It's pretty pointless then.
It's not pointless, you are just too skilled.
If I remember correctly, every 6 lessons they learn from you, you learn 1 lesson.

Yeah, games shouldn't be fun!
Finally! Someone that agrees with me!
My main actual reason for not wanting you people to have it easier is cuz I've bought credits, thus I hate people that have

I think it's more like 6 per 100 or less.

I just sat through another 3 hour long learning session, and now I'm sitting through ethelon's while he learns from me. It's frustrating and pointless. Does anyone actually pay attention to learning? No. Because reading the same thing 100 times is stupid.

I...don't get why that post needs to quote me...
I'm talking about something else entirely, specifically the extremely low learn gain from teaching. If it was anywhere near as high as 1 in 6 we would know about it.
Daganev2009-03-31 01:38:27
Why would you know about it if it was 1:6?
my rough 1:6 ratio is based on something I remember hearing, and based on the fact that I gained 2 abilities teaching a few novices when I was at adept level and they were learning from 0 to adept.
1:6 would mean that for every 15 lessons learned, you gain roughly 2 lessons. If you are mythical, it takes some 400 lessons to get to trans. If you taught them from 0- 1400 lessons, you would only gain 186.

Right, but I actually have taught from like 1400 (inept through most of the way through almost done with fabled) in resilience once or twice and I didn't get anything even remotely like that. A few % at best. 186 is like what, 40% of myth? You would definitely notice.
Acrune2009-03-31 01:43:16
I'm pretty sure its 1 lesson for 15 lessons taught.
Xavius2009-03-31 01:43:26
It was 1:100 back on Achaea. 1:6 is not even remotely close. I can eyeball my own learning and tell you that.

ahh, that would explain my memory, and why my math was so off from people's experience.

Your post is so awome even Celina wants to see it twice

That would also explain all the arguing with me she does in the idiots forum!

I haven't learned in a while, but doing it in batches of 15 was especially obnoxious when most of it was "You learn some Acrobatics, yay!" and such. I can't recall seeing one of those generic messages in a while though, so maybe they're all done finally.
As someone who used to guildhop all the time, there really is no RP to lose doing it faster, and all the more to gain. It's a lot easier to RP training someone when you can do the actual learning in chunks of your choosing then having to stretch it over an hour or more.
I've already stacked Stagform and Drawdown just for fun, so it doesn't even stop silliness such as that. It really is kind of pointless to restrict learning to 15 lesson increments.

Can you imagine, going around in one huge spending spree to get every single buff from every skill. O_o

Zia and I finished a set of lesson texts for Music and all its branches (got some help from various members of the other bard guilds for those) plus Acrobatics, but there are probably still other skillsets without lesson texts floating out there.
Shiri2009-03-31 12:24:14
Yep...no motivation yet, and I'd want them to be done properly
EDIT: Actually, I didn't even know psymet wasn't done. That one should be easy enough even if another monk doesn't get around to it.

Psymet. That was one skill that I really wanted to see the lesson messages, but there wasn't any yet. If I'm not wrong the other Monk skills aren't done either.
Heh, I read Shiri's mind.

Yeah, sorry for the slight necro here...
Just one more voice supporting Narsrim. It was Nil to try to bring Ila over from the Serenguard (from the Paladins) to the Shofangi, and I'm nowhere close to having as many lessons floating around as you guys. I only had enough to trans Shofangi and get up to about Expert in Acrobatics (which I think I'm going to switch over to psymet). As a warrior I spent a ton of time forging... and even then the stuff I got out of it was only slightly above average. Seems like I've spent a lot of time not doing much on Ila.
Anyway, what if they were to just make the wait between lesson segments shorter? It doesn't seem like much, but maybe half a second off between segments, you get 2.5 seconds saved overall... if you're learning a lot of lessons, that adds up to a lot of time saved.
