I am curious why brewing got these nifty personal PK skills (beerbelly+trueshield vs gut wounds, belch for blackout, immunity to blackout, icy ground, dwarven alcohol tolerance...) and lorecrafting got... well... not much really.
They aren't really as good as they sound though. I mean belch is like what? A 0.5 second blackout?
Narsrim2009-04-06 02:07:39
Personally, I think a 25% immunity to paralysis from a tea ceremony is pretty hot.

How often can you drink teas? They sound wickedly powerful.
You have to wait 55 seconds after your current tea blocks something, assuming no balance-delaying affliction, it looks like.

It's actually 14.2% at the moment (1/7 chance).
Numbers subject to change at our discretion.

Yes. 60 if the alchemist-sort is transcendent and filling directly into the vial.

BREWMEISTER - BREWING
Syntax: BREW
        DISTILL
        MULL
        RECIPES
The first step in the art of the Brewmeister is to create basic brews, spirits and wine. This includes tea! These skills are shared with cooks; however, you must be at an alembic to create these liquids (rather than a kitchen) and do not have access to any cartel recipes (being that you cannot be in a cartel).
NOTE: To actually brew beverages, you need a bottle and ingredients in your inventory (not in the alembic).
BREWMEISTER - PALEMALT
Although beer from this malt is sometimes jokingly called Olde Orcish, it is most likely of dwarvish origin. However, dwarven brewmeisters coyly refuse to accept responsibility and only brew this beer during depressed times. This malt is made from sugar and cheap grains. Although the beer is of a pale colour, the alcohol potency is extremely high.
Ingredients: grain 3 sugar 3
BREWMEISTER - BELCH
Syntax: BREWMEISTER BELCH
No one can belch like a brewmeister! The strength and power of your belch is so strong that your enemies will experience a slight blackout. The length of time they blackout is dependent upon your alcohol level.
BREWMEISTER - WHITETEA
Prepared by withering and drying tea leaves, white tea has a delicate aroma and brews to a pale golden cup with a mellow taste and a hint of sweetness. This tea is particularly fluffy and light. Also known as the Tea of Insight, drinking this tea blocks the afflictions of stupidity, deadening and dementia. Note that this defense disappears the first time it blocks one of these afflictions. You may only have one tea defense active at a time.
Ingredients: rawtea 10
BREWMEISTER - BEERBELLY
Because so many of your brews has strenghtened your belly, you are now slightly resistant to gut wounds. This is a passive, natural ability of a Brewmeister.
BREWMEISTER - OOLONGTEA
Oolong has an extremely complex process to prepare, which includes withering, bruising, fermenting, pan frying and drying the tea leaves. This highly prized tea often naturally imitates the flavors and fragrances of various flowers and fruits. Also known as the Tea of Passion, drinking this tea blocks the afflictions of lethargy, peace and pacified. Note that this defense disappears the first time it blocks one of these afflictions. You may only have one tea defense active at a time.
Ingredients: rawtea 10
BREWMEISTER - PUKEMASTER
Syntax: BREWMEISTER PUKE
Sometimes you can just have imbibed too much alcohol! You can reduce your alcohol level by puking it out of your system. Be careful, though, as this will leave behind a slippery puddle of nastiness. You can only puke 3x per day.
BREWMEISTER - DARKMALT
Usually made from high quality barley, this malt is considered the epitome of fine malts by many dwarvish connoisseurs. The rich colour ranges from dark brown (Chocolate Malt) to black (Dwarven Special D), and is used in many dark ales and lagers as well as the popular and seasonal Klangfest brews. Those under the influence of dark brews will find they increase the damage they inflict. This increase in damage is a short term effect and its strength is dependent on your alcohol level (the drunker you are, the more damage you inflict).
Ingredients: grain 15
BREWMEISTER - GREENTEA
Like oolong, green tea has a complicated process which includes withering, pan frying and steaming, as well as drying and rolling. The result is a tea that has a beautiful pale emerald colour and a deep flavour and aroma with tones of citrus, grass, and berries. Also known as the Tea of Motion, drinking this tea blocks the afflictions of paralysis, weakness and rigormortis. Note that this defense disappears the first time it blocks one of these afflictions. You may only have one tea defense active at a time.
Ingredients: rawtea 10
BREWMEISTER - STANDINGDRUNK
After suffering your share of blackouts while sampling your brews, you have developed a slight immunity to blacking out. Interestingly enough, the higher your alcohol level, the more of a chance you have of resisting blackouts. This is a passive, natural ability of a Brewmeister.
BREWMEISTER - BLACKTEA
Black tea is withered and specially rolled before fermenting and drying. It has a pleasant and sweet aroma, brews very dark with a full, rich flavour. Also known as the Tea of Vivacity, drinking this tea blocks the afflictions of epilepsy, vapors and clumsiness. Note that this defense disappears the first time it blocks one of these afflictions. You may only have one tea defense active at a time.
Ingredients: rawtea 10
BREWMEISTER - STEELGUT
Your tolerance to alcohol has increased to almost dwarvish proportions. This is as passive, natural ability of a Brewmeister.
BREWMEISTER - TEACEREMONY
Syntax: TEACEREMONY
This ritualistic ceremony must have at least 10 people in attendance, and the brewmeister must have more than enough tea to serve to everyone. After the ceremony, all in attendance will have an inner quality enhanced, depending on what type of tea was served during the ceremony. Only one type of enhancement can be active at once. The enhancement will afford a 14% chance of avoiding certain ailments:
White Tea - protects against stupidity, deadening and dementia.
Green Tea - protects against paralysis, weakness and rigormortis.
Oolong Tea - protects against lethargy, peace and pacifism.
Black Tea - protects against epilepsy, vaporsand clumsiness.

How come most of the important enchantment stuff is still in the city-only specs? Meh. That defeats 1/3 purposes for this entire thing.

I don't know offhand what the rate is, but I do hope you tried it multiple times. It's pretty likely when doing damage testing that you'll encounter some regeneration unless you're spamming enter so other prompts catch it.
okay so I was wrong. I tested with Iytha twice that first time, and apparently my regen ticked both times (i'm so not used to such high regen).
Anywho, I tested it at totally sober and feeling decidedly mellow and it was the same each time. Instead of 857, I took 829.
False alarm. I'm a cynic, I can't help it.

Brewmeister seems cooler than most the other stuff. Seeing what Brewmeister got after looking at my Lorecraft skills stuck me in a pit of emo.
Daganev2009-04-06 04:09:25
I'm surprised that lorecraft (lovecraft anyone?) or spellcraft got any "new features" at all to be honest.
Sarrasri2009-04-06 04:17:23
They wouldn't have had a skillset to call Lorecraft if they didn't give it anything. All but maybe 7 elixirs were made available in the basic alchemy.
