Mother 3's a really nice game, give it a shot.
Also: damn it, Narsrim! My entire childhood has apparently been a LIIIIEEEEEE! *SOB*

I'm going to admit that I'm playing Mother 3 on an undisclosed form of platform because I had to patch it to make it English.
I agree that it's pretty good - a little different from the previous games, though.

Chrono Trigger was amazing, Lufia 1 was ok, Lufia 2 was great (I didn't care about the story but the gameplay was good). Earthbound was pretty fun but I couldn't get into Mother 3 for some reason. Playing it on the same platform as Rodngar. I got about as far as the abused monkey section before not really finding it entertaining.

I loved Chrono Trigger. I very very rarely complete any RPGs due to my gamer's ADD, but Chrono Trigger was the only RPG game that I completed, -and- played , what's it called? New game +? Yeah, I actually -replayed- an RPG when I hardly every finish one.
An old RPG game that impressed me was Golden Sun. Sweeping battle animations, fun puzzles, and other stuff. I love Earthbound too. I still laugh at finding hamburgers in trashcans and eating them to heal.

Earthbound 2 is great once you get your whole party. It goes from being unnecessarily slow to very, very fast. I just love the humor in the dialogue and the sound-based combo system. Also, the play on what is happening to the world is very relevant.
PS, I didn't like the abused monkey thing either, and was glad to get past it. Glad that I did.
