I personally don't see a problem with how Zenobia was. She's the Matriarch of the Kepheran hives. All of them. Not only that, but she's the reincarnation of herself (whatever) and is really frigging ancient. She's THE Queen. Not /a/ queen, THE queen. She's used to being listened to without question. And females > males in the kepheran mind. I think whoever was controlling her did a wonderful job.

I think this was mentioned before...but Zenobia isn't around unless she's been empowered, right? Cthoglogg is, I know that much, but I've never attempted the counterparts.

Right.

Bummed that I missed all of this. Slaying Zenobia was supposed to be my "I'm a bad Kephera, Glom can keep me" task. I just...went crazy and gave up after about 12 hours work on one queen.

Power or not, some people would be prone to just backhand her.
Like the whole collective of Glomdoring.

The way I see it, Zenobia was talking to what she viewed as a female leader from the surface, or a queen. And then her male servant piped up in the middle of their conversation. What would the Queen of the entire Kepheran Empire do? She reprimanded him.
At least she didn't demand he go to work in the hives, tending the loti mushrooms. I would have, if I were her.

I would hope she learned not to reprimand lowly surface males.
The consequences are quite devastating to the Kepheran Empire!

It's so much easier with Cthoglogg; worship me because I am your Goddess' Avatar and can squish you with a thought.

So this raises the question, where do Nejii and Kial fall in her idea? Wavering from Male to Female in the blink of an eye.

Look, I didn't mean to be disrespectful or insensitive. I honestly got the impression that that particular conversation was over. What the Nil was I supposed to do? I never was knocking the player who played Zenobia in the first place. I'm just saying it totally goes against Parabollus's initial impression of the kephera and their teachings (however naive it was), and what Zenobia did played into Parabollus's fears about himself and his standings with others. She knew just what button to push. Not saying that's a bad thing from a player's perspective. I'm just saying it was really intense and earthshaking.
Parabollus2009-04-10 04:31:21
Okay, an addendum to my previous post...
I'll admit something here...when Zenobia was treating Parabollus like she was, to be honest, I was having a hard time dealing with it as a player. Not saying it was her fault! Rather, it's been a persistent problem I've been having, as some of you can probably attest from my other thread titled "Depression and Roleplaying" a while back on Common Grounds. This time, I was doing a bit better, as I was able to collect myself better and tell myself it was only a game, but then the hit squad showed up and really threw a curveball at me. Which is why I initially reacted the way I did.
But to be honest, to imply that my character deserved worse treatment than he got...really makes me question my ability to play Lusternia at all. I had trouble during the Ascension event because that was me being frustrated with the combat system and how I find it inaccessible. That could easily be remedied by focusing on the other aspects of Lusternia, which I tried doing in this case. But to see such situations I have difficulty handling outside of combat is...a bit disheartening.
I'll keep playing because in this case I was able to look back on this particular situation and laugh my keister off. But I'm still learning how to be able to handle myself in situations like these...I'm just saying be patient with me. I feel like Thomas Edison when he made his famous quote about trying to find the perfect light bulb filament - he found a gadzillion filaments that didn't work, but that didn't stop him from trying again.

Are you sure you should be playing Lusternia? You should instead go take some therapy sessions.
For once I am not trolling, I don't think playing Lusternia will do you good.

Yeah. Lusternia is horribly, horribly, mind numbingly depressing. I have a quote around here somewhere about it.
Shaddus2009-04-10 05:56:15
Something it took me a while to learn about Lusternia is this. Many people want to attach a Pseudo-Christianity to the Light, and make it "good". The Light, Lumosis, whatever you want to call it in Lusternia, isn't good. Much of it is fanaticism moreso than living by a code of conduct. You might think Zenobia "enlightened" or "holy" in some way, but she isn't.

The light has very little to do with the kephera, even if all of the above was true.
Normally she's fine as mentioned, anyway.

Hold on a moment.
Since when did Starswars become nerd-more than MUDs? I mean, sure it's generally accepted that anything having to do with the actual content of the franchise other than "Wow! There are like graphics and lightsabers lol!" is nerdsome, but really-- MUDs are the very conduits of nerddom through which all forms of geekery and new-old type dorkus seep into freakality.
Yes?
We have absolutely wrought destructive derailism upon yet another world, Jack-Jack Binx. On behalf of Onderon and the prosperity of Iziz, I extend my formal apologies, Master Parabollous.

I think you're taking Zenobia's reaction a bit the wrong way... She's a queen, and is not used to being interrupted, especially when she's having a conversation with another queen. I'm certain that had she not promptly been slaughtered, things would have lightened up.
