I've been thinking about moon and covens, and I haven't seen many used lately. There are a few skills that are being used, but some of the ones that should be better are wasted.

Light Kinda nice, but not really used other than for guard influencing every once in a while.
Cone Don't really see too many people coning, especially now we can do it on our own
Harvest Nice skill, should be used more often
Resurgem Used often, and very nice
Conclave Only seen this skill used once
Rage Hasn't been used in a real fight since way back in the day during village revolts and wisps.

Can't really say much about night since I don't use it.

I don't see any ideas in your post.

If you look at the Moon skillset as a whole, it is very useful. The only useless one is Shafts, everything else can be used, if slightly situational.

About Rage, it would be nice to see it more often, but it is used, very rarely, when defending. It's just that if we're being raided, either there's lots of combatants around so not needed, or there is no one around, meaning not enough people for Rage.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Light was also buffed sort of recently.

Light - Not great, but better than nothing
Cone - Single person cone is a construct power. You can't say now that no one coven cones that it's useless, as you are asking for an upgrade on top of an upgrade.
Harvest - Mechanically this is great. Not something that needs to be changed
Conclave - Has its uses
Rage - rofl. My only advice is you get yourself into more fights

@Solanis: Shafts also has its uses. I used it a few times as a Moon SG.

Tbh, Moon is one of the better skillsets in the game. It doesn't have anything overpowered, but all of its skills have uses in at least one situation. Definitely not something that needs upgrading.

I think Moondancers should be able to create cauldrons aswell for flavour. I mean Albion has one.
Unknown2009-04-11 12:18:44
Penumbra beats 'em all. Hands down.
Xavius2009-04-11 17:37:45
Hey, would you rather have conclave and harvest or gloomtide and longnight? tongue.gif

(But yeah, I have to agree with you--coven skills are less powerful than you'd expect for an ability that requires so many people.)
Sarrasri2009-04-11 17:47:56
Night gets conclave too. I miss when it went through monos. sad.gif

Yes please, sign moon users up for gloomtide.
Unknown2009-04-11 19:00:35
Gloomtide doesn't suck, longnight's very, very unwieldy however.

Edit: Oh man, someone also told me how long it lasted. 5 minutes?! Wtf guys.
Harkux2009-04-11 19:52:20
I'd kill for Gloomtide :/

You don't HAVE to kill for Gloomtide... it's much easier to get than that!

I don't understand why Moondancer shafts is being argued as a crappy skill. I used it quite often and to great success. It just takes some thinking ahead and strategy.

I imagine it's for the same reason that Gloomtide is being spoken of as a crappy skill.

The same person also said rage is not used much. I wouldn't pay too much attention to it.

Juuuust have to bludgeon your local envoy into unconciousness, strip them down, and chain them to a cold metal chair in your basement til they agree to try for it... dry.gif

Even easier than that.

Join the Shadowdancers or Ebonguard!

(The envoy way isn't likely to work I think, the Admin like their skills to be unique when possible)

@Narsrim: You also fought as a Moondancer in a very different time period. Shafts is not useful for a Moondancer. Pigwidgeon has far more use and for zero power. Just order the Pigwidgeon to follow the person before every attack and you have a portable Carcer that is -far- more reliable than Shafts. Shaft just tics too quickly to have much use.

Rage and Terror both have their uses, and are good if you have the Coven shooting at people while another group goes to engage in person. By themselves, they're like Cataclysm but without any way of stripping a person's shield. In any sense, not very effective once person just shields.

Harvest and Penumbra both give different advantages. Harvest is good for bashers and isn't bad period. Penumbra has some nice flavor and is moderately okay. They're both moderately decent.

Gloomtide is useful. Very useful.

I can imagine Longnight being useful in a few situations. Like preventing a meld from being broken, but.. If Shuyin's time frame is correct. 25 Shadows plus 13 Coven Members makes it incredibly.. sucky. The practicality of using it is severely lacking as well.

Moon and Night each have their own advantages. Moon is more defensively/utility oriented than Night, which is ultimately more offensively oriented. Night syncs better with a Wiccan offense, though.

QUOTE
An autumnal grove of vibrant reds and browns.
Ephemeral visions of the virtue of Duty slip through your mind, small whispers
of the power of the Hunt echoing in your ears and indicating a shield shrine of
Charune nearby. A mature oak tree stands proudly here. Surrounded by an argent
glow, Hyshan, Keeper of the Silver Cauldron imposes himself upon his
surroundings.
There are 2 Ladies of the Sterling Light here. Gleaming streamers
of white fabric surround the form of this champion of the fae as she stands here
regally.
You see exits leading northeast and southeast.

2750h, 3720m, 3900e, 10p, 11496en, 16900w elrx-look hyshan

Standing at a height of roughly six and a half feet, the imposing presence of
Hyshan forces itself over his surroundings. With defined features and thin,
argent hair that rests unmoving against his back, he holds the visage of a
powerful combatant and the fury of Albion emanates in palpable pulses from him.
He wears a thin black robe that wraps around his body, cloaking his more subtle
actions beneath its continuously shifting surface, though it falls only to his
ankles, showing the naked flesh of his feet.
Hyshan, Keeper of the Silver Cauldron looks to be crushingly strong.

They're hiding the cauldrons somewhere! suspicious.gif
