I've noticed the arm thing as well, and I've noticed that sometimes it gets stuck, I'll try to change my kata and will get the too focused to change message but I won't be performing anything until I do something like diag that takes eq and when I regain eq I'll continue doing the forms. I haven't bugged it yet, because I'm trying to figure out what sets it off.
Aeon will set this off as well. When you're aeoned in an autokata, and you come back from it...it'll say you're too focused to change as well. I just terminate and restart when I'm hunting mordraths.

The paranoid conspiracy-sniffer in me says that they did this to deter new players and alts from joining monks guilds until they can either develop a cure, or guild membership becomes so sparse enough to take them out back and shoot them.

Apparently its not a bug, just a ninja 'feature' I guess. KATA TERMINATE was suggested, which means if you get paralyzed right before a form attempt, you should do it and take a 4+ second balance penalty if they're additive. Maybe it's better not to auto kata now . Or kata terminate every time you get paralysed, webbed, put off equilibrium, etc. just in case. Hmmm.

Not a big deal, I haven't autokata in PK for a long time anyways. What bugs me is using balance when my target isn't there...that has nothing to do with autokata.

I don't PK much either anymore. It just makes it annoying to hunt adoraths and the like
Also I included the losing balance thing even when nobody's there in my bug that got rejected but maybe that's because I listed too many things. Try to BUG it seperately if you haven't already.

Bug #4791 Resolution: This is normal. Some things (though not all) that interfere with Kata will just screw it up and use balance as a delya mechanism to decide when to trigger the next one. If you want to stop the sequence then I'd suggest triggering KATA TERMINATE.

Attempting to perform a Ninjakari kata, while proned, takes balanced- even though the kata is not executed.

It was fairly easy to resolve for hunting by adding 'stand' at the top of every attack command, but... it gives monks less room for error. I would rather have seen them nerfed in ability rather than made more relatively more complicated in handling, but perhaps that isn't possible at this point.
From an IC point of view, it seems silly to lose balance, my reasoning being that my character could not possibly be idiotic enough to attempt a kata while lying on the ground. The "You must first stand" (or are paralyzed, etc.) message was him instinctively realizing what he must do, his reflexes (my system) kick in, and he reacts, holding off on his assault for the moment. Now, I suppose that whenever monks accidentally mash their macros while proned or in the absence of a target, they just start breakdancing.
We should demand a pose and ambiance messages as compensation.

That's a terrible (yes I got back on my PC, whee) mechanic considering that you need balance to even fix some of those things (prone, tumble, etc.) so I guess you're just forced to discard autokata altogether, even for bashing. Oh well.

B-boy Jozan, Master of the Windmill. I still don't have problems using autokata during hunting. But I've long ago eliminated it from my PK aliases.
