I've got Treant, and when Ethelon killed me with this combo (I just walked into the pit cause I wasn't paying proper attention while harvesting, my fault) I was beast webbed as well. By the time I climbed out of the pit I died (It actually said Failed to climb out of the pit but I assume that's just because I suck).
But with proper timing (I had a half to 1 second delay before climbing) and reflexes I think it's possible to climb out and exit before decap hits.

It's been like that since tracking came out, and I personally don't have a problem with it. It's quite easy to know that it's coming and most of the time you can escape it without much effort. In groups, it's no more annoying than other instas in a pit.

You had a problem with it when I did it to you, and you complained. What made it a problem for you then, but fine for you now?

I can get out of a pit lickety split, if the climbing isn't interrupted repeatedly by stun, web, paralysis, or any other multitude of things that prevent one from escaping. However, if anyone can provide me with a detailed enough log of them getting screwed over by my system in a pit situation, I'll be glad to investigate ways of improving it, if possible.

That's because beast web was ridiculous and kept you in a pit for at least 3-4 seconds more.

1 on 1, if a tracker started decap, he can't do anything to hinder you to climb out of a pit.
If you want a really hard to move-out-of pit, try falling into a snakepit with the right snakes and then climbing out.

The fact it's not him on the recieving end anymore. Compounded by the fact that since he's not active he gets to play-act as Impartial Man.

That is not the only problem. The other problem is that the initial part of the attack (could be more than just the initial, though I don't know since I do not stay in a pit long enough for the second message to hit) is not seen while being in the pit.
I personally found it too cheap of a move to use, once I realized the first message was not shown.

If you don't see the initial move please BUG it. While I know this was the case several years ago, I'm not sure it is now.

This whole thread is about how it's still the case...
Plus he already bugged it, so did I once upon a time.

Complained is not the same saying it needs to be changed. I complain about the rain sometimes, yet I don't want a sunny day every day.
Moving on more productively, a competent combatant should be aware of the incoming decapitation. Even withstanding that I've never used the decap/pit method of killing and have in fact died to it, I hold that it's not a big deal either way if the first message shows up or not. I don't particularly see a reason to add the first message, as climbing out (curing) is irregardless of the instakill, and 6 seconds after the second message should be adequate time to do one of the myriad hindering methods to stop decap or to flee. Even with horrific luck, it's escapable.

New announce, should be fixed!

o Decapitate(Pureblade) will always show to the victim, even if in a pit.
This is hilarious, one person who did not know how to notice the insta or climb out of pits properly facilitated this change. Wow.

I think it's because of what Charune said, it was supposed to have been fixed a long time ago, it just wasn't.
Ixion2009-04-24 23:28:57
Maybe posting bugs should be allowed then, if this forum helps bugs get corrected.. If multiple people bug something, and nothing happens for OOC years, we can only assume it's not a bug.

I don't even know who reported it. All I know is instakill warnings (which is what the first decap line is) should always be seen by the victim.
This should have been fixed long ago, as it was reported several years ago. Since it was not, I went ahead and fixed it today.

Someone actually BUGged it at the same time, actually. It's faster if you bug it versus a forum post. I don't have to ignore the forum drama to get to the issue.

Always meaning always except when it's hidden by another skill. I think I can say many of us became comfortable with the notion of pits hiding the initial message as other skills can do such as well
Well since it is a bug, case closed; glad we have an answer at last.

Blackout as the exception, of course. That's its role. Pit wasn't designed to conceal attacks against the target. As a timed instakill it's important that the full time is given for it to be seen if not blacked out.
