I look for new stuff, since I tend to listen to songs and get bored. My favorite band is Thrice, and I'm not really picky.

Metal much? Care for 'game music'?

Well list some bands off, I'll go check them out and let you know what I like and what I don't. Oh and no techno, like sandstorm. I don't count that as music.

Alright, firing at will...
Agalloch, Ayreon (The Human Equation), Blind Guardian, Camel, Candlemass, Demons and Wizards, Dream Theater, The Doors, Dungen, Edguy, Green Carnation (Light of Day, Day of Darkness), Ico soundtrack, Immortal, Iron Maiden, Jethro Tull, Judas Priest, Kamelot, King Crimson, Nevermore, Nightwish, Pelican, Princess Mononoke soundtrack, Sigor Ros, Sol Invictus, Symphony X, Warmen, Yann Tiersen (avante-garde/French folk artist)... this song from Ludo, which is my momentary obsession... and Love Me Dead.
I know/have access to hundreds of bands among these genres and more. I'll ask one of our gurus what "sounds like" what if you acquire a taste for any of these or give some specifics down the line.
EDIT: Many/all of these bands and groups change dramatically throughout their careers. If one album is slightly intriguing but still not up to your standards, try a later/earlier one.

You also should try out Empyrium and múm (these two are for Vhaas especially). I'm not sure of the Empyrium link as my speakers are what they are at the moment, should be "Weiland" - they've also more edgy material, of course. I am partial to beautiful musical atmospheres at present.

I am listening to Empyrium now... and frankly, it's amazing. I am your debt!

Wait, I already autumn'd? Oops.
On another note, Saaga's link has also opened the way to Eternal Autumn and My Dying Bride, which are new to me.

EDIT: I mean, that's pretty techno-y.

I have been proven wrong, I'll move those two into the mini techno list. Thanks for that, Ash.
Shaddus2009-04-26 21:40:38
Sorry, I didn't know we were looking for a certain genre. Either way, my list stands.
