This should make you all feel better

Problems with Hurricanes

I highly dislike the fear mongering going on regarding this situation...

I had the same problem during the constant news coverage of the Iraq war, it's like for some reason in this world of ours 1 == 100,000...

People need better perspective.

Death by random fruit is a serious threat to our national security
Daganev2009-04-29 17:43:30
Great poem btw! It's like the "drive by fruiting" in Mrs. Doubtfire smile.gif

SARS, Chicken-thing flu, swine flu.. not really worried. It's just one after another.
Noola2009-04-29 18:31:49
I'll wait until folks my age start droppin in the street to worry. Or I start dreaming about the Walkin Dude chasing me through a corn field. ohmy.gif

It is African Rabies we all need to be worried about.

It is far worse to be killed by a banana, than a pig.

I dunno... at least the banana will get pulverized too, thus basically leaving you alone.

A pig will eat your face! ohmy.gif

RIP The idiot got killed by a little banana

RIP His face was eaten by a rabid pig

Which is more disgraceful, seriously?

I ask you...

RIP He got killed by a banana which was going 70mph
RIP The idiot go killed by a little pig

Which is more disgraceful, seriously?

Yooou think it's a joke. Hurricanes can fling objects like roof shingles and fruits and such at ridiculously high speeds. There's nothing like coming home to find a car in your living room. Just sayin'.

As long as the keys are in the ignition, I'm not complaining. tongue.gif

Ok, so, while the housing market is less than optimum sluggish dead, I've been paying bills with an HR job with Boeing. My particular role is to field benefits and process questions through an e-mail system. I got this ticket today. You can't make this stuff up.

I have concerns about what Boeing is doing to protect us against Swine Flu. Several members in my team have recently returned from Mexico and I'm worried about my health. I think we should cancel all flights to Mexico. If someone has already gone to Mexico, I think they should be forced to stay home until a predetermined waiting period has passed, I don't know how long that would be. Maybe instead we can hang a red banner over their desks so we know not to go over there. I also dislike how I have to make skin contact with the magnetic lock doors in 102. I have been washing my hands frequently and bought a hand sanitizer for my personal use.

If that little piggy eats your face I'm gonna have to give the edge to the banana.

Jokes, I thought Eventru did jokes and now it's all serious time for Him. No more disaster movies for you.

If it were a man eating banana I would be sure to give the advantage to the pig.

Doesn't seem that unreasonable to me. I'm staying away from people I know who have been to mexico recently.

I mean, I assume that ticket came from someone who works at boeing, and not just some random person who travled on a boeing jet.

I'm not THAT serious. I was in Hurricane Andrew, though. Frightening memories. I can still close my eyes and picture walking out of the bathroom (where I had been hiding with a few members of my family), and the walls having collapsed in, the cement had been peeled off in chunks by the high winds, the pool was filled with sand in the deep end (not the shallow end, though). The fence was gone, the living room had a foot of standing water, the ceiling was there but the living room wall was not - a car had came in through it. The furniture from the upstairs bedroom was out in the lawn, down the street, in the neighbor's living room. The car I'd came in was still in the driveway, but smashed up against the garage door, and shingles from the roof had came down in the winds and pierced through the body, engine and seats. It was totalled from projectile damage.

That was all in the first half of the storm - we'd moved during the eye. The rest of the storm was fairly pleasant, I just sat and ate cold spaghetti-Os out of the can with a spoon pilferred from the living room wall. I did clean it off with soap and bottled water, at least.

After that, I've never been threatened by hurricanes. I went for a walk in Wilma, I drank a beer and watched Georges flood my parent's neighborhood.

I will say, however, tornados scare the sweet piss out of me. Hurricanes, no big deal. Tornados? OH GOD.
