Why?
Would Ether Seren and Ether Glom get to do the same sort of ritual to open rifts directly into water/earth?
And why water- seren and earth- glom? Do they have anything to do with each other at all? Your suggestions seem to stem from the mag/glom and celest/ceren alliances
And... why prime entrances to the ethereal forests from the mountains? Would prime entrances to earth and water get made too, to make it even?

I meant a pernament rift from earth-glom and water-seren. So it would be a two way streat.
I chose water and seren, because currently the exit to the water plane on faethorn is closer to serenwilde, and the exit to the earth plane from faethorn is closer to Glomdoring.
Currently, you can go from Faethorn to Earth/Water. So from prime to etherglom/seren would seem fair to me. (You can't go from Prime to earth/water because of the laws of planar travel)

Do people not understand what a Demesne is? (honest question)
If I meld from Ethereal Mother to Ethereal Ravenwood ( I can't but assuming I could) then I have to be in each distinct Zone for my affects to hit. It doesn't matter if I make an uber demesne. If I am not in faethorn then my affects are not hitting people in faethorn. If I am not in Ethereal Glomdoring then my affects are not hitting people in Ethereal Glomdoring. Which means my 'uber demesne' is about as useless as tits on a frog and being broken by enemy mages/druids.

How does someone break your demens in Faethorn if it extends into EtherSeren?

Forceforest. Forcetaint. Ect, just as melds are broken now.

Since when can you split a demense into two?

...
You wouldn't have *to.
You start breaking it, and just break the rooms off.
...Just like you do now.
Edit; wordfix. I fail.
Daganev2009-05-03 21:36:01
unless the layout has changed greatly, you can build an unbreakable demense into Faethorn from your home territory.

Not that I know of, there are break points all over, as there are in all areas. Start breaking it from Faethorn. :/

... You can't build an unbreakable demesne when there's only one exit into Etherwilde/Etherglom.
I don't think it matters that much whether the archways are kept or removed as long as you change them so that they don't point directly to the nexus anymore. It will be about as easy for raiders to get in either way.
EDIT: Oh, if the archways are kept, they should be pointed at a one-exit room IMO.

That was in 2006, things have been changed since then. Like...Aetherdocks put in, for instance. That's a breakable spot within both Ethereal planes. They can be broken from the Earth/Water archways.

Wow... I called it... People said you left the thread I said "He went to find some ages old ass posts about how unbreakable melds were possible three years ago." You are far to predictable. Still wrong too.

The proposal is to make faethorn more like it was back in 2006, so I'm not sure why the fact that it's old is relevant. Estarra asked why the changes were made in the first place.
Seems silly to repeat history and pretend that the issues that existed back then, won't crop up and exist again.

It's relevant in the fact that you are pulling THREE YEAR OLD (yes I know caps don't prove a point, but I didn't want you to miss it) data to prove your point, and is wrong. How many times you need to be told you are wrong I am not sure, but I can try it in multiple languages if it helps. I speak 2 others fluently enough to do so.

Just because it will be made KINDA like it was back in 2006 does not mean it will be exactly the same. You have to account for changes that have been made since then. Melds aren't unbreakable in most areas anymore, the admins seem to have made sure of that :/

Honestly, it's been awhile since I've thought about the ethereal exits and I don't recall all the pros and cons for each decision except insofar that I was annoyed that players were fickle in their arguments and kept giving us mixed signals. but a long time has passed, so I'm thinking of moving the archways back to their original points or even removing the archways altogether and setting the original exits back. I'd like to hear pros and cons to these ideas. I will be heavily moderating this thread so please keep it civil.
Wow, I'm pulling up 3 year old arguments in a thread where Estarra asked us to bring up 3 year old arguments!
The world is comming to an end! OH NOES!

The causes and effect of those changes is not the same today. You can't force people out of their territory or into enemy territory. You can't have a meld's affects span multiple zone, though the meld itself can. People are smart enough to... move... if they are being attacked by someone and don't wish to be.

No, you are pulling up 3 year old arguements to justify your wrong opinion of today's ability to create melds.
