Citizenship in Honors Line

Why is it that we can't quickly check and see what city a person belongs to? My first thought is that it seems a bit silly to just -know- where a person calls home... but then I think about it some more and I realize that you already know a ton of information about the person that you shouldn't.

Example:
CODE
Ser Vathael (Male Demigod).
He is 86 years old, having been born on the 20th of Klangiary, 148 years after the Coming of Estarra.
He is ranked 2nd in Lusternia.
He is an extremely credible character.
He is the Warden of the Moonhart in the Serenguard.
He holds the position of the Spirit Guide in the Serenguard.
He is an Astral Traveller in the Fellowship of Explorers.
He is an enemy of your city.
He is an enemy of your guild.
He is a graduate of the Ancestral Glade of the Moonharts (honours) and the College of Necromantic & Tainted Research (honours).
He is a member of the clan called 'House Feyranti.'
He is the clan head of the clan called 'Creo Nemus Curator.'
He is a member of the clan called 'The Chieftain's Circle.'
He is a member of the clan called 'Disciples of Klangratch.'
He is the clan head of the clan called 'Viridian Rangers.'
He is a member of the clan called 'The Talnaras.'
He is a mentor and able to take on proteges.
His motto: 'Aut victum vel intereo.'
He is considered to be approximately 220% of your might.
He has taken the hand of Sarrasri Talnara in marriage.
He has been divorced once.
He is a first generation member of the Great House of Talnara by marriage.
See HONOURS FULL VATHAEL to view his 10 special honours.

From this, we can see his rank in the game, who he's married to, how "mighty" he is compared to yourself, what his motto/warcry is, his clan memberships, if he can mentor, if he's been divorced in the past, if he's an enemy of your guild or city, and his positions in his guild if he has something of importance.

You could make the argument that you could look at his guild position and know that he'd have to be from Serenwilde... but not everyone holds a high enough position to have it marked on their honors (in fact, only a handful of people do).

Furthermore, you can FAMILY TREE him and see detailed information regarding his family structure.

Long winded, but the point is that if all this information is available, citizenship shouldn't be odd.

It'd be nice to see, and help me keep track of who I should be keeping an eye out for and so forth. What does everyone else think?

Edit: You could also use the collegium line... but that doesn't show current.

That one yes freaks me out, Casilu.

@Kiriwe: ...why not? Just out of curiosity.
Shiri2009-05-02 05:27:15
Some people like being able to lie about their allegiance for various reasons, which is fair enough.

I think we should have it anyway though.

OH MY GOD! I'm 86. sad.gif

I think it'll help in getting the more.. 'realistic' RP atmosphere in the realms? It'll be so fun, as on the flip side, be so tedious.

um, no?

The only way to get more realistic would be to take information -out- of honors, not putting more information in.

You still haven't explained -why- you don't like the idea.
kiriwe2009-05-02 17:37:54
because it's one more piece of information that you can learn upon honorsing sombody

I like to rp out meeting people. Learning names, guilds, city etc.

When all that information is thrown at you in a way that people consider IC, there's no point to introductions.

Plus, if you dont have a title, dont have a position, and have graduated from a couple different collegiums, people have no idea where you live, and it's fun to sneak around.

Yes, but there are some dead giveaways.

You can still RP out meeting people, exactly the same as you have to do now: you pretend HONORS doesn't exist and just go with it. Having the citizenship line in the honors wouldn't hinder that in any way.

having citizenship in honors completely kills any sneaking attempts, though

I disagree. I think its a lot more fun to stealth around in a game that makes it hard to hide. My Stealth monk was fun for just that reason.

You're a professor in the collegium and you're part of a clan with the word Taint in it. Sneakiness is already dead for you from the observant.
Unknown2009-05-02 18:02:10
Is it possible to implement a CONFIG HONOURS ON/OFF option? ON would obviously act as it is now in-game; by having HONOURS ON, you can HONOURS and find out all the information we do now, plus their citizenship. If you decide to have HONOURS OFF, whenever you HONOURS it'll come up with:

CODE
Ser Vathael (Male Demigod).
He is an enemy of your city.
He is an enemy of your guild.

Or something like that?

Lame. Ignoring an existing mechanic to RP when it's still available to everyone else?
Vionne2009-05-02 18:33:54
People pretend to have incurable blindness all the time.
Vhaas2009-05-02 18:34:37
I would support the ability to configure your own honours, even to a greater extent- restricting the availability of personal information on clan membership (per clan) and might, for instance.

I find that as the general rule, the more IC information a mechanic offers, the less players will interact in regard to it. Great for learning basic in-game functions that are borderline OOC, terrible as a roleplay device.
