Nah.

There is no answer in the domoths. Just lots and lots of time meditating and running from champions. sad.gif

Well, it'll be a long time before I can attempt to find out on my own.

Not sure where you get Buddhist for Hallifax. That philosophy fits in much more with Gaudiguch (note their spiritual leaders). If you want to look at Eastern philosophical parallels, Hallifax would be much more suited with Confucianism (indeed, that was an inspiration). And just because they live in the clouds and are scientists, does not necessarily mean they're all that 'enlightened'--note their extremely rigid caste system and practice of slavery.

Probabily from me saying that I thought the angels and cherubs from Continuum would look like sageous Buhhda floating on a cloud giving advice and the Supernals looking like this guy http://images.exoticindiaart.com/oils/the_..._rudra_oq58.jpg

Heh, sorry, no, that's not what it means.

But that's not to say that the plans for Gaudiguch and Hallifax haven't existed since 2004!

I always viewed gnomes as the machine-oriented ones (and yes, to a lesser degree, Mag, though they seem to carry all the negative connotations of industrialization to me...soot-covered city, anyone?). I think Hallifax will probably be much more crystal-focused...and the Hallifax-Gaudiguch philosophical divide would have to be something fairly orthogonal to the Celest-Mag one, so that the alternate alliance pairings would be equally plausible.
Acrune2009-05-03 03:42:54
Can you imagine 5 new guilds being introduced into the game at the same time, per city/commune released? fear.gif
Simimi2009-05-03 04:26:28
They wouldn't have bards and monks, those are advents of the modern era
Shaddus2009-05-03 04:29:05
I bet lucidians in Hallifax would/should get tinkering bonuses tongue.gif

Seriously, I hope Hallifax comes out. Aeromancy would be -the- coolest demesne ever. Imagine a tornado stripping levitate, then hurling them into another room for damage... priceless. And warriors would be interesting too, especially if you give them a cool spear specialization. (please?)

So, no ones really mentioned the main idea of the post - the engineer thing. Good idea? Bad idea?
Daganev2009-05-03 08:56:02
btw... I believe that warriors are also slightly new. Atleast they were for the communes.

They were for the Communes, who were just Druids and Wiccans before (Ackleberry seemed to have a militia of people so that might be something?), but the cities had warriors, the Paladins (who were found primarily in Celest) and Ur'Guard were the most well known.

Hallifax's Constructs:

The Crystal Maeve
Who can deny the will of the Crystal Maeve?

They have a crystal version of Maeve. She's basically the collective consciousness of the crystals and the Continuum itself. She is the source of the Crystal Plane's immunity to all other types of melds, save for the Aeromancer's. She can only be activated by the Crystal Star Council, secretly, otherwise, catastrophic proportions of doom will be unleashed.

Syntax:

MAEVEEDICT CRYSTALFOREST

*This causes a vast forest of crystal spires, spikes, spheres, trees, plants, angels, demons, and more mini-Maeves and etc. to cover the entire area. During a Blue Moon, this covers the entirety of Lusternia - complete from Planes A to ZXY12345, to infinity and beyond.
This crystalforest makes all Hallifax territories basically a fortress - all cubix/pyramid/thingamajig exits are removed once this has been activated aside from the massively cummulative 500 bleeding per tic, which occurs on a 3 second interval. Not even Dual Transing Discipline will save you now.

MAEVEEDICT BECAUSEISAYSO

This causes delayed instant death to at most 5 persons, depending on the choice of the Leader of Hallifax.

MAEVEEDICT INSTANTASCENSION

This releases Kethuru for a minute, making him appear in front of Avechna and making Avechna panic. In this panicked state, The Crystal Maeve's seduction shall work its OP magic, making Avechna give the Staff of No-1millionpower-Ascension to whomever Maeve wills it. This has a side-efffect of making Avechna forget the incident afterward, attributing it to nasty, realistic, gold-and-ivory after images as a result of Eventru's entrance.

This can be done on a monthly basis.

The Crystal
Simple names hide dangerous OP-ness.

Supreme Climate control.
upgrade benefits:
Hallifax's citizen's can get a crystal remote that allows them to change the weather to change the climate. The choices are: Basin Warming, IceAge 2, El Nino, and La Nina.

Syntax:

CRYSTALSWITCH

They can also will it that the weather will negatively affect their personal enemies
Enemies have a 5% chance of surviving each tic of the effect.

Syntax:

WHOSYOURDADDY

There is also one special thing that can be done via this special remote, once every 30 IRL days:

CRYSTALSWITCH BADHAIRDAY

This -instantly- kills all personal enemies in an area; because of the strange aeromantic engineering, Hallithoids are capable of channeling strong sharper-than-anything-else air currents that shreds the targets into tiny pieces of pink mortal flesh.

I'll think of more. Later. ninja.gif

Thought I'd add my two cents.

I never got any hint of spiritualism from reading up on Hallifax. They are logic based, science based, and one heck of a bueracracy (I HATE SPELLING). The three guilds were the Matrix Research Institute (Guardians), Aeromantic Command (Mages), and the Matrix Legion (Warriors), at least those are the only names I can find in the histories. They used titles such as Professor, Force Commander, and Chief Executive. They had a Board of Governors, with a Chair of the Board, a Vice Chair, a Secretary, and many Ministers. None of this sounds very spiritual. The Trill and Lucidian sound like they studied everything scientifically and acted very much like a secular society. The only hint of spiritualism I can find is in the Mesa Complex, where Seela calls Indiau the "spiritual leader" (or is it the other way around?).

As for warriors, it would seem there's some electricity involved-- the rare times I've seen the Trill and Lucidian warriors in the Mesa actually fight (instead of standing there letting you do all the work), they fight with crystal staves that release a burst of electrical energy on contact.

I would love to play a character in Hallifax. Everything about it just sounds neat.
