If you're thinking about the young players, then one thing that should be considered is eliminating some of the quality differences between trans and non-trans designed items. Most specifically, decrease the differential in decay time of items made by trans and non-trans people (and if you want to compensate, give the trans people something flavor-y)

Define 'fix' because, besides the joys of Forging, I think the rest are being tweaked (albeit slowly, but being tweaked!) enough that I'd still like my daydream of a non-design/design tradeskill thing, since it's not like I'm asking for a new skill here.

Things will never be fixed until people decide what fixed looks like. Is it fixed if trans tradespeople have enough demand to contribute to the commodity gold sink at approximately the same rate? Is it fixed if trans tradespeople can make gold at about the same rate? Is it fixed when all items crafted at all skill levels have some sort of demand associated with them? These are basically mutually exclusive goals.
