So a friend of mine who's left Imperian has me interested in Lusternia. It's safe to say that I -will- buy credits eventually, it's just that for tihs week, it's not feasible. But I'm not going to let something like starting out with non-trans skills stop me from getting started, now am I?

Now, I'm going to do this a little differently than simply asking for the best Race and Class combo in the game for this. What I would -really- love to hear is your personal preference. It doesn't matter what city you have to be a part of, whether 90% of the playerbase thinks you're daft for saying it, or whether you're just being silly. Merely please include why you think so and include a wee bit of info on how I should go about doing it if I do decide to take your suggestion and run with it.

By info, I mean "Invest in Necromancy until you get before putting lessons into this other thing." Merely saying something like 'Orclach ur'Guard' isn't really helpful. I'm new to this place, even if I'm not new to IRE, and I need a bit more to understand things.


Anyway, if you do happen to reply, thanks ever so much. I'll be watching this thread and possibly responding to ask a question or two.

Loboshigaru Monk of your choice, harmony may be your best bet. Around circle 80, reincarnate into human.

Were I bashing to Demi, that's what I would pick.

Any of the monk guilds will serve you well in bashing. The tahtetso and shofangi are especially nice because the race which specializes in their weapons, the Kephera, has great resistances and can therefore take a whole lot of damage (and, because they're monks, they bash fast as well). Warriors are great bashers once you've got a few levels behind them, but they're far more costly to get involved in PK with.

This is a question that's been asked pretty often, so I suggest skimming this forum and the survival guide for more detailed and varied opinions.

The trick will be, before getting trans in your primary skill for monks and warriors, you'll be fighting against the lovely missrate, which is definatly going to affect your bashing. Magic users don't have this problem...but they won't have the same high potential. If you are serious about bashing to demigod though, the credits for the primary skill should come along eventually though.

As far as the cost goes, eventually, that wont be an issue. Also, I have and still am skimming over previous posts. Sucking up all the info I can like the dutiful sponge I am.

Warriors are both incredibly costly and not very fulfilling until you get to demigod and buy some artifacts. Right now I'm struggling with the fact that my entire combat is based on random numbers and mashing buttons while hoping something happens.

Are you talking top tier PK? If you are, your first sentance can be true in every IRE game as long as you substitute Demigod and Warrior with the appropriate words pertaining to that world.

I was under the impression that you can be a fairly decent Mid tier/Upper Mid tier and even Lower top tier combatant without an Artifact investment. Demigod will help, of course and trans skills go without saying. But are you telling me Warrior is useless until it's absolutely decked out with arties? I'd be happy to be a decent combatant who focuses mainly on bashing until I could afford those artifacts. Right now, PK is secondary to my interests.

Warriors aren't that bad :P

Artifacts are necessary to compete in PvP as a warrior if you want to be anything more than a nuisance (i.e. mid-top tier), but their bashing and survivability is great. Demigod is far from required, unless you're fighting demigods, but that's a given.

Warriors are not useless without arties. While they help, there have been a couple people who've done quite well without them. Melville comes to mind. I think even now he hasn't put arties on his weapons, since he changed specs.

i did just fine as a blademaster before demi and changed to bonecrusher at demi. BC and BM id say are best warrior specs BC more so for urguard with the offbal perks. from there id say axelord and pureblade last.

Let me change it: Demigod required without artifacts. Artifacts required anyways.

Demigod lets you get to 25 strength, which lets you do enough damage to force a sip rather than an application, and deals enough wounding to really let you stack between hits.

AxeLord is definitely a more PK spec, those ridiculous stuns - especially from those pesky Faeling Serenguards or Ebonguards.

Faeling Serenguard? Axelord is alot of fun, mostly because I like chopping limbs off and giving them away as gifts.

Yes, monks will be nerfed in PK, but they will still be very good for bashing to demigod. I don't think the nerf to monks will make them any worse than other classes in PK. *shrug* But I won't know for certain until the nerf happens.

I wish pureblade was more viable, because I loved amping legs.

Faeling Axelords are more found in Seren or Glom, why I said those two. And yes, give them a fast axe and they can pretty much keep someone stunned the entire fight.

I don't think I've seen a Faeling SG, except for Iasmos sometimes.

I have very little trouble hunting as a Faeling SG. Combat is faster, but not nearly as hard hitting. The faster speed doesn't make up for the lack of strength, if you ask me. I don't think I could manage quite so well without the passel of artifacts, either.
