I think I'm getting marginally better at this and I want to try playing some of you over the internet, how do we do that?
http://swr.mizuumi.net/index.php/Netplay
^That summarizes it. Basically, you get one person to host, they give you their IP and you connect to it. Some of us play over Hamachi since we live in different locations. There's a link to the SWR IRC channel there as well, but as a word of advice, they'll mop the floor with you for your first week or so. I'm still recovering from my bruises there.
Ayisdra2009-05-30 20:42:02
no one is on hamachi to fight with me

Is that a request?
Shamarah2009-05-30 21:11:40
Well, someone play it with me, even though I'm going to lose horribly. I don't think it would be a good idea to go play against this game's actual fanbase though while I'm still working on getting the controls and mechanics down.

Sure.
Go to Netplay, go to the second option, enter this:
24.18.94.224
Yeah, use 0's as placeholders. Your firewall might try and stop it, we'll see. Keep the port as 10800. I'll be hosting for a few minutes.
Furien2009-05-30 21:23:36
Balls, lots of people having connection issues today. Shiri needs to wake up!
Furien2009-05-30 21:25:14
OH! I think I might know the problem. When you have Touhou open, does its title bar/taskbar say 'Ver1.06' at the end? If not, updates are needed. Dunno if Shiri told everyone that part.
Shamarah2009-05-30 21:30:37
The "enter IP" option looks totally wacko for me; when I scroll through the numbers it's like it's sometimes showing half of a 2 and half of a 3, and some of them won't let me select periods.
edit: never mind, I just used the copy from clipboard option, hai Furien

Okay, now seeing if Ayisdra's works. Not bad, Sham, Reimu is hard to play.
Shamarah2009-05-30 22:02:12
I think I need to learn what the other characters do, you kept pulling out random moves that I didn't know how to react to for the first couple of times. It also didn't help that you kept switching characters
Shiri2009-05-31 02:49:25
When you put in numbers, it's like 024.0*****. Alianna said "use 0s as placeholders" but that was vague.
Also, if you don't have letters/numbers at all, you probably need east asian fonts on your comp (likely from your XP disk if you run that.) You can only host outside of that. I'm willing to help people practice who want to, and I'm trying to get the hang of one character's BNB combos right now anyway, so let me know if you're interested

I'm ready for action, kaboom.
Story mode on hard is kind of interesting, the last boss's resurrection forum of constant uber laser beams was a bit tough. The premise though, despite what people whine about, is that every super in the game is counterable, you just have to do it over and over to win in story mode.

The rules about supers are even harder in storymode than arcade mode. Firstly they make most of them up, and secondly most of the existing ones (master spark, reimu's yin-yang orb thing, sakuya's omnidirectional knife spray, yukari's flight of visionary insects) eat your spirit even while grazing so you'll get guardcrushed on the ground.
I really have no idea how to beat Youmu's last card in storymode actually, I guess I should youtube that one

This is better than street fighter 4.
Maybe not guilty gear though.
Maybe not guilty gear though.
I think it takes a lot of aspects from the Guilty Gear series, but doesn't beat it out in any real way. The Guilty Gear series remains my single favorite 2D fighter.

You can counter every single super in story mode, with every character. There's only one completely BS one and it's still 50/50 RNG if you execute properly, but it's on the final resurrection form of the last boss. She gains a new ability every 1/4 of her life bar and the last quarter is just retarded.
