Yeah, my main concern was low ego reserves. Considering that illdrain gives you up to 50*level ego, though, that shouldn't be a concern. And the hit to influencing (not that I do much influencing anyway) is more than offset by the gain with the dex bonus. I'm assuming the jakari proficiency thing is solely speed-related?

The illithoid bonus adds +10/+10/+10 to the chain damage/precision/speed.

That's... fairly substantial, especially with that 17 dexterity. Thanks for the information!

I never did. I just said you're not cool.
Just because I don't go around whacking random people and things with my tahto, doesn't mean I don't have feelings
And back to the topic of illithoid vs. human, the low charisma does hurt influencing, which still depends on charisma, not ego levels, afaik. As a kephera (11 charisma), even with a throne and beauty blessing, my influencing (empowering or begging) is still sub-par (doesn't help that my system lags when influencing, but meh). You'll need some massive charisma boosts to be able to influence guards, for instance.

Hm. How vital is influencing? Keeping in mind I'm CR1 (and likely to stay that way for a while, given my experience with Mag so far) and I pretty much bash and quest to get experience... in fact, I haven't used it at all since the novice quests.

Assuming Guard Influencing hasn't been nerfed since I was gone, if you learn some of it you can just turn on the EXP faucet and hit Demi in a bit under a month.
Esano2009-05-30 13:56:36
Influencing isn't that important, but if you do focus on it you can get a lot of experience without doing much work.

False. Even if you don't sleep nor have any competition for the guards, gaining Demigod in a month is not possible.
...maybe 5 weeks.
Ryll2009-05-30 14:06:37
Hm. I might stick with human for the time being and switch to Illithoid later... although I shudder at saying that, since it sounds so metagame-y. Although given that I haven't put any lessons into Influencing, it's probably a moot point.

Considering how often you've prayed as a titan, I hope you're not basing this off personal experience.

Only two times, and I regain one pray session in at least five hours.
