I haven't seen the proposal yet. I suppose my only real concern is that, so long as statistical outliers are going to exist, people are going to gun for them. Kata weapons, armour, whatever. So that's what really needs to be addressed. Even if we just, say, went to pure stat reallotment from what a person has, people would just go for a "high total stat" outlier instead of a "combination of stats" outlier.
But, I'm assuming Desi has that base covered, and am not overly concerned. As far as mechanics go, assuming Desi knows what he's doing about something he deals with is a safe bet.

Just to add to everything that's been said on the thread, Desitrus' proposal is a sound one, its fair, balanced and you will like it.
This is not to say I don't want to see a reworking of the warrior formulas, but without touching those, Desi's proposal works well.
PS Get your envoys to support the TrueShield envoy report, that should go a long way towards helping non-arti/non-demi warriors compete.

What does the trueshield report do exactly, by the way?
Unknown2009-06-08 18:16:56
to bad supporting this will also go along way to helping arti/demim warriors kill you in half a hit.
Chade2009-06-08 18:19:57
Basically TrueShield gives some cloth (Splendors + Shield Rune) wearers up to 122/122 on one arm chest, gut and head and their robe stats on the other arm and their legs. The report is suggesting that TrueShield protection be dropped to only half the shield stats being added on to robe protection, the two solutions are either to simply halve the protection a shield gives as part of trueshield or to halve the protection but spread it to all areas of the body.

Tell your envoys to support the second one - it will help with annoying one hit pin legs.
We also need to keep in mind that while helping non-arti warriors, we don't want to hurt non-tailor casters.
so spreading the protection around seems like the best choice to me.

Seems fair enough, I like the second solution.
Is it going to retain the stuns on block?

Whoa, that high? 110 was considered too high for warriors, so yeah... that needs fixin'.
Chade2009-06-08 18:39:23
Yeah Terv, Ixchilgal has 124/127 at the moment I think, which is um 20 points above the max I can get with master armour, and well above the max I can get on my head.
Obviously that's only for trans tailoring and shield runes though, and even with the change Ixchilgal's stats will be better than pretty much every warrior going, especially on the head.

so my ass who doesn't have trans tailoring is getting nerf'd why?
Unknown2009-06-08 19:09:41
The game is balanced around trans skills.
But like I said, having the protection spread around wouldn't be as much of a nerf, and actually helpful in certain situations, like a blademaster trying to pinleg you.

then give my trans artisan ass more combat ability?

FYI, it was my decision to ask Desitrus to be the point person because he is an envoy and I had worked well with him before when we were looking at warrior formulas. He's gotten feedback from forgers and has proposed a fairly simple and easily doable proposal which we're discussing. Anyway, the final decision is the admin's so that's where your hostility should be directed (we're used to it!).
It's so easy to have threads like this devolve into echo chambers that convince people that there's some sort of consensus (when there's not) or where simple ideas suddenly become unwieldy and weighted down by tangents and special interests or new proposals suddenly crop up that are neither simple nor practical. The forum poll indicated that players wanted us to look at forging this month, so we are sticking with the original idea of leaving forging pretty much as it is with ways to temper weapons to get the stats you want (within parameters and at a cost). We may address warrior formulas or what weapon stats do at a later date, but right now the focus is on forging. By keeping it simple and straightforward, maybe we'll have time this month to look at other areas that were brought up (like families). No promises though!

Totally different issue, but I believe the Ninjakari envoy has a report up concerning the artisan skillset. You may want to ask what is in that report, and contribute any ideas.
Unknown2009-06-08 19:30:45
Its not a different issue, you claimed combat is based around trans skills. Well I can be omni trans and still this isn't balanced for me.

I don't think anyone here has actually attacked Desitrus, at least before he decided to throw a fit and begged for the attention. I don't know Destirus at all, from good or bad, so I have no opinion as to if his decisions will be good or bad. Of course, -now- my opinions of him are fairly low, but that is neither here nor there.
I was just complaining in general because it seemed like good ideas were being thrown out and it took about 3 hours to decide to simply hand it off to someone else. That's probably a -smart- decision, but one you can't expect is going to make anyone feel warm and cuddly inside, because -everyone- wants to feel that their opinions matter and lead to some sway over decision making. That is human nature. It really should have been handled that way from the start, as much as I hate to say it.
Besides, I started the whole thing off by saying that I'm glad at least something is being done.
As an aside: I'm still wondering if the trueshield report is going to retain stun on block.

But you have the option to choose tailoring, and you knew the benefits/cons of each skill before you made the decision.
Unknown2009-06-08 19:40:38
no I didn't considering it is being changed.
Diamondais2009-06-08 19:50:05
Your splendors are not being changed Krin, Trueshield is being changed. It's still an added bonus, just not so much of one.
