I can't get PennMUSH to work on my computer. Whenever I try to run the server, I get the following error:
Unable to talk to the Service Control Manager
** Error 5
** Access is denied
If anyone can help me fix this, I'd be grateful. Very grateful.
Running on Vista. Ready to shoot myself in the head. Myrkr out.

Thanks, I really just need people to understand.
I've always been afraid of being one of those miserable people working in a job they hate.
But I also feel guilty about disappointing my mom. It's a constant battle.
Good luck to the both of you!

With the subject, here is my general dissatisfaction: I've just finished my AS-level exams, next year is when I need to start applying for universities and everything starts getting rushed, my problem? I still have no idea what I want to do, like, at all, it's not that I don't find any of my options particularly appealing, it's just that none of them really pull me in, I've spoken to the people that are supposed to help me make decisions and the only thing they do is give me the options I already know about and tell me all the little areas that I could go into with my interests, which I already know.
Seriously, I'll be flipping coins to figure it out if it stays like this.

I'm on my fifth major. There's no obligation to stick to one program, believe me.

You can always go undeclared for a while, get the core subjects out of the way until you decide what you want to focus on. I had a friend who didn't decide until his third year in college what he wanted to major in. He just took all the basic general classes (maths, english comp, histories, western civ, science classes, languages, etc. that all majors require) the first two years. He wound up having to take some summer semester classes cause of how the prerequisites for some of his classes worked out, but he didn't mind.
Or you could just declare one you think you might like and, if you turn out not to, keep switching until you make up your mind.

I got a 403 from the d20srd today, and I dunno why! I needs that, because I'm too cheap to buy real source books.

There is this strange noise outside that sounds either like a blowtorch, someone spraying out a plastic pool with a hose, or a jet. Kind of irritating.

403 is the error for trying to access material that you aren't allowed to read.

I'm going into year 11 this year and I suck at math, but I want to be a mechanical engineer, and I'm freaking out inside about it, and I've got to take the triple sciences. My guidance counselor said I could be an engineering technician or something but I want to be an actual engineer. F ma vie.
I also haven't seen my friends in three weeks since I'm at camp, and I wanna go home, but I don't because I have to go home to my grandparents, and I hate them, and I have to go home and work. I don't want to be 16 anymore (even though I just turned it a few weeks ago). I want to be 8 again or something.
Sorry, really emo mood...

Oh god, I thought you meant year 11 of college.
I would just study hard and try to learn as much as you can while you are still in high school. There are a lot of people that are 20+ years old that haven't even gotten as far as you have. So don't freak out about it. Once you get to Uni you can ask around and get the good teachers. A great teacher can make any hard class much easier and most colleges offer tutoring services for free. Seriously though, don't worry about it.. Just try to make the most out of high school.
And there is nothing to be said about wanting to be 8, but I would prefer being 5 so I could be in kindergarten again.. Whee finger painting!

I was in the same boat as you. Academic year 07/08 I was doing my A2s and had applied to study Psychology, because I had some interest in the subject. I was applying for that only because I had not decided what it was I really wanted to study. In the end, circumstances saw me withdraw my application and 'decide' to take a gap year. While it has been fairly...lacklustre, the extra time has been immeasurably valuable and I have now decided on an engineering degree, for which my application is now almost complete and accepted. I have also had a great deal of fun with the time (albeit alongside periods of overwhelming boredom - make sure you find a way to fill the time else you're gap year will be dreadful). I do recommend taking one if you think the extra time will help.

University doesn't work like that in England.

My best friend has been spending more and more time away lately. He works for most of the day, and when he gets off work he's usually with his girlfriend and will come home anywhere from 11PM to 2AM, usually just going straight to bed at the latter (by falling asleep on the keyboard or just logging off without saying goodbye or...anything like that, ugh). Now, this last time, he told me he wants to get a better, normal sleep schedule. Which means he probably won't even be up past midnight anymore. I wish I could remember the last time I had a good talk with this guy. :/

That will happen until he's able to get his times all figured out. Don't worry, it'll get sorted out.
Edit: Actually, I do have a rant. My one housemate who I care nothing for, but can't get rid of, I and two others of my friends that live with me have had continuous problems with. She's got about 30 years on us (the other four housemates ages range from 18 to 26), and I gave her a chance for a long time but repeated annoyances have made me really, really dislike the woman.
She got one of us fined $350 for having a friend stay on the couch for a bit of the night til he could go home. I'm a bit miffed because of it, because it basically means none of us are safe unless we hide in our tiny rooms.
The one, single, housemate that likes this one annoying housemate has told me all I can ever think of is her in a negative fashion.
I lost my temper.

I was about to go out to take care of some things, but I can't find my wallet. I called the only place I went yesterday, and they said they'd received no missing items. I've checked my car, ripped apart my house... I don't know where it went!
