For the first time in many years, I won't be joining Maellio for Ren Faire on opening weekend .

Ren Faires have lost a bit of luster for me since I joined the SCA. It's just not the same with actors and tourists as it is with everyone participating.

I never get to go to our yearly Renfest. And this year I have like, 300 in my bank account, so I could barely afford snacks anyway.

I've never been to a RenFest before and always wanted to.

Even so it is a bit of a drive for me whether its in Houston, Austin or Dallas. It takes about 2-3 hours to get to College Station (brother lives there) and about another hour or 2 to get to Dallas from CS. So yea, the chances of getting my father to do that drive is slim to none. If I was in Vegas still it'd be a 30 min drive towards Henderson and my sister would probably be willing to take me as she likes going to them to.


@Noola: if you ever get the chance to go, I'd recommend it. Not only is it fun and entertaining to see pirates and whatnot walking around, interacting with people, but you can find some very one of a kind jewelery and clothing. Of course I <3 when they have jousting. Pwnies!

Noola, come with me and we'll dress up like we're from Star Trek and claim we got transported back in time.


We can also do that for a civil war re-enactment.

People make me sad and laugh at the same time. The threats to grill the octopus are fine, but PETA demands it be set free. PETA is such a silly, trite organization from what I see. And their lack of understanding proper death threats saddens me. "We want you free" really, really sucks.

Oh, I've had giant turkey legs. They're sold at every outdoor function in Austin, TX. First time I went to look at the christmas lights and someone was hawking gigantic turkey legs I laughed out loud.

Casilu, a friend of mine went to one and came back with pics of these guys walking around in movie quality Kilngon garb and makeup. All these folks in RenFest clothing and then these four Kilingons right in the middle.

That's one of the things I love about RenFaire. People dress however they please and no one seems to mind :3 Well, there are some people who gripe but hey its a time to dress up and no one yells at you!

And I remember suddenly why not going to RenFaire isn't a huge loss.

So, I've decided to drop my Cuong Nhu class for a while. I don't go enough to make the $145 a month worth it. The only problem is, that I feel bad about it. Cause I'm friends with the folks who run it.

Three hours of sleep. 6 hour work shift changed into 7. Fiance didn't even notice I was late until I was walking through the door. Having to go to and come back from work in the heat. And no one noticed my shiny Hallifax shirt today

SCA is sooooo much better! I'm an order of the tiger's cub! (kids version, not the adult) Mum and dad were both in it. SCA is awesome! Ahhh, now I feel a bit better. *asleep*
