They do that so you don't get all depressed. They're trying to lift your spirits.
Yeah, but we all know (that's the entire family that cares about my grandma 'cause she's pretty awesome) that it's not all happy-happy. She had bowel cancer to start off with, which spread to her liver, and it now looks like it gone up into her lungs. They can't operate for some reason, and they're "doing the best they can" with the treatment she's getting. I'm just in a really crappy mood too, for the fact that me and my parents are in a different country, and it's not exactly cheap to fly over sometimes. I'd rather be given the proper facts, told what's happening without the bullcrap "everything will be fine" 'cause you can tell when they say that, everything is -not- fine but friggin' bad.
They'll lift my spirits when they find a magical cure to kill cancer and boot it off the planet and say that my grandma won't die and can live. I don't want her to die.

I'll trade you. While I was out doing laundry, my mother sends me a text saying she's tired of not getting ahead, she's taken 90 heart pills and she loves me.
Needless to say, she had been drinking and was depressed, but the ambulance should be taking care of that.

Oh my god that's horrible

It's ok, she just gets like this every so often. I hate to sound heartless, but she does it for attention.

If doctors don't sound optimistic, people accuse them of not doing their best and letting people die to free up beds. It's a reallly tricky thing to try and present the right attitude to the right people, and I can't blame them for not getting it right all the time.

Does anyone else bellieve text games cause vision problems after playing for a long time? Everyone I know that has played for at least 5 years has contacts or glasses now

Staring at a computer monitor constantly will do bad things to your eyes, no matter if you play text games or not.
My disatisfaction: I am having a horrible upset stomach and it's making me miss True Blood. Thank goodness for Tivo.

I wish I wasn't blind, but my job makes me stare at a computer... and so does my free time. Bad free time!

Though to be fair, the kinds of people who stare at computer monitors constantly are often the sort who have a genetic predisposition to bad eyes. Not always, but I think that the results may be skewed a bit by that.

I've had glasses since I was in grade three, just started off as "She needs reading glasses" and some how made it to the point I am now where everything past my elbow with my arm held straight out starts to blur out.

That, and back problems. Text games are dangerous business, it should be left to the professionals.

I'm generally dissatisfied...

I've been using computers every day, usually almost all day, for more than 25 years (before that, they mostly were printing terminals). My vision is still 20/20 and the optometrist thinks maybe in twenty years when I'm of retirement age I might need non-prescription reading glasses, but maybe not. Hard to be sure!
Aoife2010-07-12 02:48:52
I've needed glasses since 4th grade (probably earlier, really), and that was before I spent any really significant time on the computer.
It's just genetics in my case.
