Holy crap I just spent two hundred dollars on books. For only two classes. Why does Renaissance poetry cost so much?! I'm a poor writing student, darnit!

I know how you feel. I took art classes and the art books were really expensive. For my writing classes I got the books out of the library when I could.

Hate to break it to you but this is how professors/publishers make their money. And by updating the version every 2-4 years or so.

Not just computer science. My final project last year was on Quantum GHZ states and a lot of the papers were supposed to be only available in journals... I googled and found so many ripped off copies of what I needed. The original paper proposing the idea was a little bit more troublesome, only being available in a book costing £189... and I was about to hoof it down to the British Library to view their only copy when I found that the original author had obviously realised its lack of availability and posted the entire relevant section on arxiv.org!

My entire project turned into a big JFGI paper.

That being said as a result of finding things so easily I kind of hated my project by the end. The finished paper was just 8000 words of waffle and flannel

Also, I can't sleep. I didn't drink much coffee yesterday (just my normal 8-9 cups at work) and I didn't nap after I got home. There is no reason why at 3am before a workday I should be unable to sleep. And I'm supposed to be in early tomorrow to unplug a site link to do some fibre speed tests. Bah, thats going to go well if I'm sleep deprived. I mean really, sudden insomnia when I'm usualy more of a narcoleptic? Unfair.

Too much.

I had to pay $100 for a self published math book that was bound with a plastic spiral. I could do the exact same thing with a pdf file and a laser printer for a tiny, tiny fraction of the cost. I've seen cheap bulk notebooks put together better.

Presently, my laptop's fan is making intensely loud funky dying sounds.

Days like today make me thankful that this baby has a cooling pad with an extra fan.

Think I might need to take the case off the back and clean it out again. Sigh. How does damned sand keep getting on my desk?!

Edit: Also, I have this illogical rage that my coding has been spread around for my aethercraft system... oh well, can't expect it to stay with one person, and I suppose I should be flattered, aye?

It's that time of month for me. I hate it. I hate it so bad. My lower back kills me, I get two hours of sleep at a time, and it's far heavier then anyone elses I've ever talked to. It's just...ergh. I can't afford the birth control pills, which not really needing them for what they're intended for, they help this issue nicely with making it calmer. Ergggghhhh

Like, there is no one on any of my messengers, no one in IRC. this feels odd for being noon on a Saturday...

I got used to a couple of my friends being around most days to keep me company, but not so much now.

Gag gag gag! I found my mom has a flicker account, and has pictures of me on it! Arrrggghhh, I'm sleeping in them! *weep* I hate having my pictures just floating around the internets, though this is less worse then I thought, given you know, it's mum. But still
