Sorry sad.gif

Very large earthquake early this morning today in Japan, plus a tsunami immediately following. It's been pretty bad over there.
BBC Report on Japan.

Godzilla references (note: not jokes) are only appropriate when referring to large-scale nuclear disasters, given that this was Godzilla's original purpose in life.

That said, it's a little daunting. I'm given to understand that if the world were to place its entire nuclear arsenal in one place and detonate it simultaneously, it would generate an earthquake of the same approximate magnitude as this one.

I have a really hard decision to make, only two weeks to make it, and I have no idea what to pick. sad.gif
Razenth2011-03-11 22:11:35
Go for the one that will cost the least money and potentially make the most money after adjusting for risk.

I'm just trying to pick a minor (or two.) Need to pick by next term so I can start.
Razenth2011-03-11 22:18:21
My advice still applies.

They'd probably almost all work out about the same. tongue.gif

My choices are physics, math, or computer science.

Edit:

And business. My advisor said business was a good choice too.

Godzilla and Cthulu jokes about Japan right now. A little surprised people are going to say that kind of censor.gif around me when I've got family there, not to mention a couple hundred people have lost their lives. Go censor.gif yourselves, you're probably the only one who's going to do it anyway.

Funny you would say that... I live in Japan. And the Number 1 nuclear power plant in Fukushima had a meltdown and exploded. They are clearing the area now as we speak but in certain places they haven't contained the fire. Hearing the dialogue on the news you can tell by the speech that things are definitely bad. Winds might push contaminants as far north as Hokkaido.

Thanks to everyone that send me in-game/ooc messages. I'm okay since I live in the southern part of Japan. If you ever get news of an earthquake hitting a town called Beppu causing the thermal volcano that I live on top of to erupt, that's me.

Uhm, wow. The news kind of kept me optimistic about the situation, but now that it has exploded...sad.gif

I hope you and your family are safe and are not near the plant!

Power outage. Woo- censor.gif hoo. And I have finals starting tomorrow AND I need to review the powerpoints- which are online.

The whole situation is the general dissatisfaction, yet I can't help but find it just a little bit humorous that the piece of paper the doctor makes you fill if there is a chance you have depression is literally the most black/grey piece of "Ieathopeanddreams" in the world. It is somewhat tragicomical. It's almost as if it is some sort of demented prank to make people even sadder after having sought professional help.

Hence why after my first trip to the psychologist I decided that I was just fine, and that real life sucks but you live through it! (I hate psychologists, really. Please, don't take offense if you are one.)

I am not.

Though, really, professional help tends to help a lot if one has a serious mental illness, so I can't say I agree with your statement. Well, if I actually were just fine I might, but I am not, there is something wrong.

Hrm, just curious, what is the reason? I'm studying psychology now, and I have friends who want to be clinical psychologists, and it's always good to be able to hear from both sides.

I find that... they can see weaknesses and exploit them, which is what happened with my last experience. >.>

Meer, I meant in my case, and I know a couple of other people who it harmed more than helped, really. I've had bad experiences, but if it helps you then I'm glad. smile.gif

(I'm now going to duck out and go away before I start an argument that I'm really not meaning to start!)

Edit: and because I have no idea where to place this...
I really am hoping I got out of Theatre Arts. Why you might ask? Because I'd rather not have to face a class that I dread daily. >.<
