You usually don't run programs using administrator privileges by default because an administrator can do vastly more damaging things if they accidentally click on, say, a virus program. You have to do it deliberately, sort of like the little perspex molly guards on Important Buttons.

Right click and hit Run program as administrator or whatever it is
Or just do what I do and turn off UAC completely.

Indeed. I claim full responsibility for what I do on my computer. Stop trying to baby me.

November or such now, please. Summer needs to be stopping.

The things that drive me absolutely nuts are when you do something as an admin, and instead of even giving you a "Are you sure? This could be BAD!" prompt, Windows will just say "You can't do that." No, I own you, I can do that. If you want to warn me a few times, give me graphic details of what could happen, whatever, great. But give me the option.

I've heard there is a higher rank than admin, and I know I came across how to supposedly do it in stumbleupon, but I don't think I saved the link...
Lendren2011-07-01 02:08:24
While I also agree heartily with the idea that "are you sure?" prompts are cow-pats from the devil's own satanic herd, there is a point to be made for non-admin accounts, which was mentioned upthread. If you're logged in an account with minimal privileges, then the malware that's currently running inside the active content on that website you just went to innocuously is also running in an account with minimal privileges, and thus relatively unlikely to be able to install itself. That is the real reason for restricting priviliges even on people who know what they're doing, not the risk of accidentally formatting your hard drive.

Silly girl getting upset over silly things. Derp. Mrrr. Today's just one of those days. I shall cheer myself up with the photographs I took this afternoon.
Also, my friend wants to talk apartments with me tomorrow. I dunno if this is good or not. :|

I'm going into withdrawal from one of my depression medications. I'm thinking that the new medication is reacting oddly in this scenario, because I've had withdrawal before, and there's new stuff this time. On the plus side, I -think- I've discovered the cause of my spontaneous numbness (which has happened three times now, all since starting the new meds). Neither medication mentions anything about numbness or tingling in their side-effects, but I think paired together, missing a dose of one is what's causing it. Sleep paralysis may be involved as well, since I had a mild case of that last night. Maybe this will finally teach me to get my prescriptions refilled -before- I run out, rather than two days later.

Really? Three new promotions? Two meta-events a week?

It sounds like you don't like free stuff.
Coincidentally, I dreamt that I had two czigany coins and I won 57 credits.
The text was purple on the winnings.

Think that was me.
Something close to that happened to me.
My Dissatisfaction:
Being sick and being unable to do much, and this damn lag.
Arel2011-07-01 17:52:25
I know, logging in is so disruptive to the game. Damn promotions.

On the contrary, I like free stuff. But I've made my point in plenty of other places.
