$330 charged to my credit card in Watchung, NJ!? Thank goodness for fraud alerts. Does this mean somebody's stolen my identity?

Maybe not your identity, just your credit card number.

I am sick. This is leaving me generally dissatisfied.

What am I in the eyes of the world but an endless string of purchases and payments? When I'm gone, all that will be remembered is that I may have bought $300 worth of hot dogs at a convenience store in New Jersey.

Wait, it was a convenience store? They likely purchased a large group of gift cards at the convenience store. That is a common tactic so that they can get all the money and use it on things, but without spending it in multiple places. It also makes them really hard to trace.

All that's going to be remember about me is that I spent a lot of money on Lusternia then...

Sounds pretty likely. I can't imagine all Funyuns and cigarettes coming out to such a nice even number (plus tax). I just got the alert tonight, though, so my card company probably won't be calling until Monday. And I guess my account will be nicely locked up until then.

Did you buy anything online lately? I have a feeling you got dumpster-dived and then they just took your info and sold it to someone else.

Casilu seems suspiciously knowledgeable about this.

I knew someone was going to mention that.
I have this friend in Nigeria, I promise that if you help us out with some cashola, then we can pay you back in spades.

I get to have $40 deducted from my paycheck because somebody didn't pay for their gas yesterday(I work at a gas station).

Don't you have pre-pay gas pumps?

A lot of more rural/southern areas don't. I was surprised when most of Oregon didn't ( Kentucky doesn't either, at least according to my uncle).
Stangmar2011-07-11 01:36:04
We have a prepay policy, and our pumps all have credit card interfaces(except for the 2 high flow diesel pumps out back). But sometimes they don't read all cards(usually with American Express or with 99% of foreigners). We get TONS of european and asian tourists every day. For locals we usually turn the pump on and let them pump and then come in and pay so they can get the local discount(A whopping 6 cents per gallon). Or if somebody has trouble with their card at the pump, and doesn't know how much their car is going to take, we will let turn it on for them and hold their card as security until they're done, and then we ring them up. Well, when the lady came in to pay, she paid for her junk food with one card, and then asked for her other card back. I didn't see any unpaid fuel transactions on the screen, and I hadn't seen her fill up(the girl I work with authorized the pump and took her card while i was in the back room), so I just handed her her card since we had a HUGE line and a hundred things going on at once. I'm guessing she was like 90% of stupid tourists and hadn't hung the pump back up before paying(I don't understand why people don't know you have to hang up the pump to finish a transaction), so it hadn't shown up yet on the screen. Anyways, my boss is going to take half of it out of my check and half of it out of the girl's check who authorized the pump. I offered to just pay the whole thing since I don't feel she had any fault, but she won't let me and my boss insists we split it.

Also, another rant. I was kicking some on GTA IV today making my way through a PITA mission when the power cut out. WTF? If there was a bad timing award, my power company would probably have earned it's 10th by now. They always kill the power at the worst times.

My sister moved out, so we dug through her room to find that she'd been stockpiling a ton of games we'd thought had gone missing for years. We found Morrowind. And I've been playing it all day. ALL DAMN DAY. This is dissatisfaction because I am so tired but I can't stop doing stuff.

Computer or XBox? I've got Morrowind, heavily modded, and it not only looks great, it plays better. I too have been playing it way too much these past few weeks, but there are really few games with as much depth as Morrowind. One of the best games I've ever bought.

You don't belong here, Outlander.
Oh man, Morrowind is my favorite game, I really wish I could play it. I've been playing Oblivion to get back into the spirit before Skyrim comes out.

Xbox, which drives me batty since I'm totally a PC gamer and some of the clunky controller controls make me cry a little on the inside. Not to mention I have to wear my glasses to read the text on the tv.
