I have to agree with Furien. Those things were comfy, well until the point my brother bust my eardrum by "helping me" jam a cotton stick into my ear. Since then I've been paranoid about anything in my ear.
As for infections in the ear, I've found scarves to be plenty helpful. Keep your nostrils clean and your neck warm and your ears should improve too.

I liked that thing the doctor did where they lay you down on a couch and ask you questions, and then showed you funny pictures and asked you what they looked like, and then put you in a room for a while with bars on the windows. And as for the waistcoats, well...! Never had a jacket that fit so well before or since.

The internet grants me the welcome ability to cogitate before I communicate. In real life, unfortunately, you'll find I am much less verbose, unless you are willing to wait several minutes between communiques for me to formulate a suitably erudite response.
