I just washed my wallet today. The contents were 3 debit cards, a driver's license, a walmart gift card, my social security card, student ID, alumni card(yes, i'm a student AND alumni of my college). It also had $10 USD as well as 170 philippines pesos and 100 taiwan dollars. I think it will all be fine though once it dries out....

Power's out. Stupid hurricane.

I've learned the best cure to a washed wallet is just leave it and put it through the dryer too
Stangmar2011-08-28 00:02:26
No problem, didn't discover it until I emptied the drier. The only thing still wet was my cash. Good thing I laminated my SSN card.
Razenth2011-08-28 00:07:06
You carry your ssn card with you?
Casilu2011-08-28 00:10:32
I am so going to steal Stangmar's identity.
Stangmar2011-08-28 00:22:21
I don't generally carry it, but i had it with me because I just moved over here to St. George, so when I grabbed it at home, i just shoved it in my wallet. Hadn't yet removed it when I did the laundry.
Also, any idea why it says on the back of the SSN card not to laminate it? I noticed AFTER my mom laminated it a few years back that it says DO NOT LAMINATE this card....

Laminating your Social Security card
Updated 07/21/2011 10:26 AM | ID# 624
Is it illegal to laminate your Social Security card?
No it is not illegal, but it’s best not to laminate your card. Laminated cards make it difficult, if not impossible, to detect important security features and an employer may refuse to accept it.
The Social Security Act requires the Commissioner of Social Security to issue cards that cannot be counterfeited. We incorporate many features that protect the card’s integrity. That includes highly specialized paper and printing techniques—some visible to the naked eye and some not. Further, we continue to actively explore and adopt new technologies that hamper duplication.
Keep your Social Security card in a safe place with your other important papers. Do not carry it with you.

That's a pretty hilarious rule.

Seems reasonable to me. Difficult to fufill, yes, but the providing the impetus for preventing counterfeiting on something so important is certainly worthwhile.

The motivation behind it is certainly sound.
Enacting a rule/law that is impossible to adhere to is pretty much the essence of fail, though.

Isn't that just about every law?

Dear wind: stop blowin' crap around. You're making my lights flicker and I really don't want to lose power, ok? Jeez. Try to be more considerate.
Also, I HEARD that tree up the street fall. Don't even try to act like you didn't make that mess.

That would explain my inability to leave the house without killing three people, robbing a bank and topping it off with a side of arson, I suppose.

You sir must be a resident of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
If I had a home in Pine Bluff and a home in Hell, i'd rent out the one in Pine Bluff and move straight to Hell.

Probably with all those social security cards you counterfeited, huh?

Stayed up late because I wanted to see how bad the weather would get from the hurricane. Getting to 5am here and it still wasn't that bad, had seen much worse storms, so :censor:, going to sleep.
Figure, maybe I'll just crack the window open a little bit, and listen to the rain while I pass out. Soon as I open window a car alarm starts going off right outside it and oh god it won't stop.

Dear self,
Stop being insecure. And stop internally feeling resentful over someone you barely talked with. She's innocent, for crying out loud. And so is the person who's making you feel that way. It's not his fault for idolizing over her...and why do you even feel that you are being implicitly compared or..at the very least..he's using her as a bar to rate or define you? Your fault. All your fault. You should learn selective ignoring and forgetting. -.-
Sincerely yours,
Your self
