Wisdom teeth pain woke me up last night. Now I'm still too woozy from painkillers to drive to class this morning.

That sucks man. I had my wisdom teeth out in 08, and it is without a doubt the most painful thing I've ever experienced. It hurts more than broken bones, tablesaw accidents, blown out knees, and what have you.
Were you under anesthesia when they took them? Did they take all 4? I imagine you're on Lortab or Vicodin right now.
I was knocked out for the surgery, and given a prescription for lortab. I took it for 2 days and it didn't do jack shite for the pain. I also needed to drive the 80 miles back to school, so I stopped taking them so I could drive, and then I left them at home because my roommates would have probably started popping them. I then spent the next 2 weeks on tylenol and ibuprofen. For almost an entire week of that, sleeping was near impossible because of the constant aching. It turned out on my follow-up appointment one week after the surgery that i hadn't healed at all, because he hadn't given me any antibiotics, so he gave me some and told me to take them for the next week. It was about a week and a half after that point that the pain eased up and I could eat solids again.
To anybody who has to experience this, I have these words: You poor bastard.

They aren't out yet. They're just pressing into my roots right now. It hurts. A lot.

I was knocked out for the surgery
They failed to knock me out for the surgery. I was conscious for the entire procedure, and listened to the surgeon and his assistant talk politics. I didn't feel any pain, but I could feel something happening in my mouth. It was not a pleasant experience. I didn't have all that much pain, during the surgery or afterwords. Mostly it was just a dull, annoying ache that but me in a bad mood.
Diamondais2011-11-15 18:49:53
I just went through that, hopefully you have a nice set of Tylenol 3's, Motrin 600's or whatever other nice comforting pain medications they prescribe for them.
It does get better, I still get twinges two and a half weeks later, but it's survivable.. eventually.

I had two of my wisdom teeth removed (I'll likely have to get the others out soon). And...it wasn't that bad. Then again, it was with a dentist that I know very well, so it was just, ok. We know how this goes. I'm terrified of dentists, so just hook me up with the laughing gas and come back when I'm giggling at the tv. And make sure you fill my mouth with novacaine. Lots of it. Whole bunches of it. The worst part of it for me was just the taste of the blood after the teeth were out, because he had to put so much novacaine in there to numb the jaw, I could taste it. It tasted horrible. It wasn't fun. ...I'm going to go forget getting my teeth pulled out again, and uhm, just...think about less yucky things.
Arimisia2011-11-16 00:12:59
Ironic time to read about wisdom teeth.. I am getting my last one out tomorrow morning :( I have had one out before without laughing gas, two out with it (I remember lying there thinking, "Am I dying?") and this last one will be without the gas. Already having nightmares and the words, "I'll cut and you pull" ringing through my head (impacted tooth has to be cut out).
Shall be fun -_-

I had my wisdom teeth pulled on a friday, was drugged out from the painkillers all weekend, and felt pretty much all right come monday. So its not all doom and gloom, had no issues with it here.

So, the tension spool for the belt in the car broke yesterday. Okay, I can handle that. Car gets towed, fixed, I start it up, everything works. Half way back to church (about 10 miles) the low coolant light comes on. Hmm, says I, that wasn't on before. What a coincidence, I guess I'll have to take it back in this week to get that checked. By the time I get home (another 4 miles), steam/smoke is seeping out from the hood, my heat doesn't work, and something under the hood continued to clunk-clunk-clunk after I turned the car off.
WHAT THE HELL DID YOU PEOPLE DO TO MY CAR??

Well, now you know what to look forward too :P
It's actually different from person to person. It comes down to how impacted your teeth are, how the surgeon goes about removing them, and the way your body heals/responds to medication.
Some, like me, can't move their jaw without doubling over in pain for 2 weeks.
Others are eating cheeseburgers and steak the next day.

What kind of car do you have?
You definitely want to get that checked out. Try to avoid driving the car if you can. You may have blown a head gasket, which would cause combustion pressure to enter the cooling system, which would cause the coolant to overheat and puke out of the tank. And now you may have coolant in your oil or oil in your coolant, you want to check that, if it seems kind of like a milkshake, you got problems. There's a lot of possible causes of overheating/coolant loss, but the clunk-clunk-clunk is worrisome.

I took my car in once, and it turned out I was missing both a random belt somewhere and a fairly important filter (or something like that, I forget), and had been for a long time. My car was apparently running on flubber or witchcraft or something.
Stangmar2011-11-17 01:27:20
You must have been driving an older car with a v-belt system. It was probably the belt running the A/C compressor(they used to be on separate belts generally).
I've been amazed at how some vehicles will just keep truckin along even with seemingly major things wrong with them.
We've driven our F350 for years with only 2 of 3 bolts holding the water pump in place(could completely destroy the engine if that came off). Also, the engine caught on fire once due to a bad alternator install on the part of an incompetent mechanic. Still runs like a boss.

It's a Buick Skylark (I'm not a fan). I checked the spot where it was parked yesterday, and there was a puddle of fluid there, so I figure I have a leak somewhere that I didn't have before. I'm not driving the car--I don't have time to get it looked at until Friday, though, so I'm on my bike again for now--which is not altogether a bad thing.

I know the feeling. I'm walking a lot more now for 3 reasons
1) I'm starting to gain weight
2) My car gets 9 miles to the gallon
3) My car is a ticking timebomb, it's a 1992 Lexus LS400, that's close to losing a timing belt(which will run me around $1000 to have replaced). It's probably close as well to losing the A/C, another $1000. I'm scared to drive it because I know something else is about to break, and Toyota rapes me on parts and doesn't even call me in the morning.

Oh boy, looks like we have a problem. Was planning to play some GTA, but my roommate is watching Twilight obsessively right now......and there are no women in the apartment.
Jack2011-11-17 08:10:28
I have a buddy who deliberately cultivated an obsession for Twilight to try and impress girls. (Did not work.)
Stangmar2011-11-18 00:49:32
Oh...my.......
He's watching it again, 2nd night in a row.......
btw, he's not succeeding in picking up the girls either.....

Maybe he just actually likes it, and is using the excuse that it's to pick up girls as a way to evade the judgment he would no doubt face for admitting that he legitimately enjoys Twilight?
