Does anyone ride horses? I thought they were pretty cool until a dragon attack killed mine.

I rode Shadowmere until he got killed and stopped spawning next to me when I quick travel...he has died a few times and came back where he died but I forgot where he died recently... (I play on the xbox )

I have never bothered with horses. Partially because I dislike horses in general, and partially because I get around through a complex series of rock-jumping moves that I don't think a horse would agree with. A mountain goat, perhaps, but not a horse.

But that is the thing, the rocks you can't get up, the horses can! and the horses get up those rocks easier than you.

You have clearly never seen my terrifyingly effective rock jumping skills. B) No ledge in the world can defeat me!

Well, unless it's got invisible walls on it.
Razenth2011-12-15 23:43:04
You clearly haven't see horses climb 60 degree angles.
Lawliet2011-12-16 00:42:16
Yeah, it was weird when I was riding around on shadowmere and suddenly realised she could climb ABSURDLY well, but I don't use it much because there are a few rock formations that she gets stuck on and it feels really wrong :P

She comes back if she dies? Bleh, I've been reloading if she ever does, didn't want her to be done!

Wonder what the first DLC will be...

She does come back after a while but I have found that she stops spawning when you quick travel after she dies. The fact that she dies is stupid. She couldn't be killed in Oblivion (or so I'm told, never played it)

Correct. She was considered a plot essential NPC.

I dunno. I was always frustrated that you couldn't kill "Plot Essential" NPCs in Oblivion like you could in Morrowind; it ruined some amount of immersion for me.

I think the system they put in for Lydia is best. Won't die to NPCs, but you can smash 'er dead if you want.

If you are playing on the pc, you could use a console command and just conjurer up another shadowmere. Understand that, you might, er, run into the first shadowmere after it comes back to life. Shadowmere only stays dead for awhile. When he dies, he just reforms later, and goes back to...to...somewhere, I forget exactly. If you travel there, he'll be there, perfectly fine. (maybe the first sanctuary?)

What was good about that? I found it horribly discouraging when I realised I hadn't quicksaved for 3 hours before doing something gamebreaking.

How did you manage that? Virtually every plot important NPC was OBVIOUSLY important (unique model/emotes, high end equipment, or obviously important place)... Unless you were being an indiscriminate murderer you should never accidentally kill one.

Telvanni Lord? Unique dialogue? Whole family of cloned daughter-wives? Full daedric armour? TIME TO OFF THIS MOOK

How can someone be 22 years old and still not know how to spell "Saturday" correctly?

This guy was in my graduating class in high school, and he made a facebook post about "who wants to go out on saterday". At first I was like, whatever, makes him sound dumb but people do make typos. Then I scroll down, and he spelled it that way a second time, directly beneath a reply in which somebody else had spelled the word properly. That put me into full-power judgment mode. Gaaah. SATERDAY? REALLY?

I am going to put my head down a bit, and try to recover some of the faith in humanity that just jumped out of me like it saw a damn ghost.

I forget exactly what I did. But I remember getting a little popup saying, "The main quest is now impossible to complete." Something like that.

Not to say Morrowind was bad. Such an awesome game. Levitating across the ashlands. Flying up on the cantons of Vivec in all their enormous grandeur. Filling Caius Cosades' house with all my loot, arranging it on his one table and one bench and floor so it looked nice, and carting it to the mudcrab merchant a bit at a time. I'M CREEPING.

One time Caius Cosades decided that all the lovely loot I was using his house as storage for was rightfully his, and started beating the crap out of me every time I tried to pick things I'd put down back up. :(

That's why I prefer to barge into a Dunmer's home, make myself at home, and kill any occupants that object, just like a good Imperial.
