It would've reassured me at least. I read books about it you know. Biiig books. Without pictures.
Arix2009-06-16 10:30:16
Big books, hmm? Like medical texts?
So let me ask you Solanis, Bali, Rika: Are YOU scum?

Nah. Computational Science. Logic and Language. Means I am smart, well... I thought. Then I came here. You don't approve of me?

Actually, I'm somewhat concerned about lurkers at this point
Esano2009-06-16 11:24:53
Konton could do with more posting, yes. Are there any links between the two except post colour and that they both voted for Bali first? It would be odd to pick out the scum with a posting colour, and as it was a daystart (and Konton hasn't been back for so long) I can assume they didn't have time to arrange this. It would seem more likely to be a mason pair, or just Myrkr being ... Myrkr.
I don't mind choosing a random vote by the first person's name you hear (so long as you don't claim this as support for a reasonable vote rather than a random one); I do mind being unclear about how you came to this choice, however. People associate random votes with random.org, even if you say "the friendly random mugwumps in the Asylum". Hearing that you chose it by the first name you hear IG (and this somehow being an excuse?) is different, and switching between the two lowers your integrity. Three 'random' votes is a bit much, and is far too close to bandwagoning.
The "are you scum thing" I don't really trust in forum games. Might be better in IRC games, where response time can be used to differentiate, but here it's too easy to lie. Still, evasive answers are never good.

You all proved me right. I haven't talked much because I know that everything I do will just end in ruin. I also knew that no one really cared about me here. When can we leave this place?
Noola2009-06-16 13:50:17
Ok, see, I don't get picking at Shaddus's random vote because he didn't get it from random.org.
Is that seriously the only kind or random that's acceptable? Maybe I shouldn't say this, but I've never used random.org. Not for any of these games. Nope. Don't even know what the site looks like. Halfway thought it was made up - like a clever way of saying 'random.' When I randomly vote, I just pick a name out of the list without thinking about it. That's my random.
Shaddus said he picked his vote by going with the first game-player's name he heard mentioned in Lusternia while he was logged in. That is a perfectly acceptable randomizer, IMO. I would not pick apart Shaddus's random vote based on THAT of all things! The reason I find it somewhat suspicious is cause it was the THIRD random vote on the same person. It just seems somewhat unlikely. But, I'm not sure I find it suspicious enough to vote on him or not.
Right now, Arix is actually seeming really evasive. I do buy his posting restriction about his role, it actually makes sense to me - his only being able to claim his disorder on the first day so he goes ahead and claims it, not knowing if a situation might come up where he'll need to and isn't able. But I always find it suspicous when people say, "It doesn't matter how I answer, you'll believe what you want." It seems like a ploy to me. I'm also not sure why he didn't just say, "I'm obviously not scum, I'm a crazy person." or something.
Anyway... Unvote
I'm gonna go ahead and Vote Arix cause I don't really have a better plan yet.

you realise by this point that I can't actually answer that question with any degree of believability. If I say no, people like Rika and Bali who are butthurt about last game will just ignore it and continue voting for me, and if I said yes, people would wonder what the hell I've been smoking, since claiming scum is utterly retarded. All I can do is point you to the post where I stated my win condition
Can you point me to where you posted your win condition? I looked over the posts but only saw where you came out with your disease -- not where you said who you win with!

You're always poking at me.
I don't have anything against colors per se (although Shaddus uses some colors that are harder on my eyes), but it does make them stand out. And given that we don't have much information on Day One to go on, it seems well enough to pressure based on that. Especially with Shaddus claiming to random vote, but doing it in a way prone to subjectivity.
But, Arix is suspicious too...I want to see his post with his win condition! And why he didn't say no, he wasn't scum!

To me, a random vote uses a mechanism that does not allow biases any way to come into play. Random.org is great at that because you put the names in and it spits one back out at you. It doesn't care that you got lynched last game by X, or killed in a raid by Y, or that you and Z are best friends... it just gives you a name.
But, when you look at a list yourself and then pick one, even if you're trying to be random, your subconscious biases can come into play. As it could with choosing the first name...
Did he decide first that whoever's name he came across first would get his mafia vote? Or, on hearing Bali's name, did he say, 'Ah, Bali! He's the first one I've come across, I'll put him down."
First one is more random (although not everyone has an equal shot at being picked that way based on orgs/activity level/etc.) but the second is more a rationalization for a vote. And, given that he replied to a post saying it was odd there were 3 random votes on one person, 'I won't lie...here's how I voted', seems it wasn't so objectively random.
But this is really all just by the by. We just don't have much to go on right now, so any small thing is made bigger. I don't think that he's necessarily scum from his vote.
Kiradawea2009-06-16 15:50:48
Sowwy Zynna. I just needed to know if you were here and had chromophobia. Muffin?
Me don't think it's a good idea to vote for someone just because of a posting restriction. Last game, that cost us a doctor. Post restrictions seem pretty neutralish. Nice folks and naughty folks both have em. Thus, pressing someone for info just cause of their post restriction is only slightly better than pressing someone cause random.org says so.
But you seem to have other reasons, and I agree with them. I do believe he can't speak normally tho. It just seems too elaborate. More like something Myrky would do.
And really. Was that the best you could come up with Konton? There are... what three people poking and you don't even poke back? Be happeh. Have some grilled cheese muffins and dun be such an oddball.
