Inalai was there from the start, it was in Paladin history I believe and is in the final book for the Holy Celestine Empire. The newer events (Some celest thing and Asylum) just expanded on it.

Inalai is an original historical name. Dolph Inalai was the Lord General of Paladins during the fall of the Old Empire. I could be wrong but I also think Inalai family is mentioned somewhere as one of the founders of the modern Paladin guild in New Celest... although that could've been an IC book...
Diamondais2009-06-16 19:18:20
There is also an Inalai in the Asylum I believe.

Most Inalais should probably be in an asylum...

Building up any family is difficult. Building up a historical family is even more so assuming there is a particular RP to go along with that family. By the time you can really tell if someone would be a good fit they've already been snatched up by one of the bigger families who I swear have recruiting stations at the Portal of Fate.

Hopefully this process will make it much easier for people moving forward.
Kiradawea2009-06-16 19:42:10
Oh. I seem to recall someone telling me that the Inalai was added to the Asylum because Catarin did such a good job as a builder. In retrospect, believing that might've been a bad idea.

That's what I hate, too. Yes I am from a big family, but I only have one daughter of my own (and of course she's not around anymore). Anyways I'll see someone come out of the portals one day, and see them again a month or two later with someone's Family name attached. Personally I like to get to know kids before I adopt them. Talking to someone once isn't enough to know anything about them.

I would hope that this new process would include consulting the people who are active or semi-active in the current small historical families. I know it would be good for RP, but I wouldn't want someone to end up stuck with people they dislike, or feel like an outsider in their own family.

Actually they've been moved up to character creation.

Richter to answer your question off the top of my head, these families may be used:

Celest:
Farain
Symfale (maybe not actual spelling, but captain from history)
Celest has alot of named denzins comparatively, but I don't have Celestian.

Glom:
Stormcrow

Ackleberry:
Gladheart

Serenwilde:
Lunseer
Strongleaf
Treeheart

Magnagora:
i'Xiia - Last Great House unclaimed
d'Lardick, n'Rotri, d'Vanecu, y'Bolgari, n'Lochli - Bannerhouses

General:
zi'Prouep - Lucidian Astrologers

There are tonnes, but that's just a few.

Just because I was bored, here are the villages under Glomdoring control, and the NPC names in them that aren't claimed family names.

Shanthmark:
Boldleaper, Strongheart, Swiftpad, Sharpclaw, Longtooth, Longhair, Proudpaw, Diamondclaw (though I believe there's a jewelry cartel by this name...), Goldeneye. There are three or four Swiftpads, and Adeaze Longtooth is the Village seer

Paavik:
Paavik
Vasili, Vaaginko, Blachini, Norvak

Southgard:
Kildal, Gimerl, Glorsun, Darr, Urvir, Thrbere, Azhig, Nuroril, Vonglori, Thalrent, Aldel, Grimmar

What does being under Glomdoring control mean? Pretty much every village has, even Estelbar a few times.

Same with every organization...

They keep revolting!
Diamondais2009-06-19 03:51:48
he probably just means now, probably the only ones he can freely wander about. laugh.gif Though it's likely unnecessary to answer.

Glaruda was not a family name, but the name of the High Seat of the Farain Family during the Fall of the Empire and the Ecclesiarch of the Celestines, following the loss of Shellma Natharian.

Also, when you're looking at Magnagora and Celest especially (and probably Hallifax and Glaudiguch), realize there's different 'levels' of family. For instance, in the Holy Celestine Empire in the city of Celest, there were seven Imperial Families, and then a bunch of lesser families - Ladyn, Inalai, Farain are all Imperial Families. Natharian, Ladantine were not 'Imperial' Families, and were of a probably lesser stock. Symfale was the family of Muurelt and Vlad, who was a pretty simple shipsman (though it's possible the family has far more ancient roots tied to the seas!) Fun fact - Imperial Families have patron Supernals.

If you wanted a few more Merian family names that have mobs about, there's also the Sinenth family, Highwater, Blontine, Tildarman, Nerale, Teldale. That's just a few.

If there's celestians that are wanting to look into developing a historical family, they should try and get ahold of me - it's definitely a long affair, but I'm certainly willing to work with anyone who's willing to put forth the effort themselves. Granted, I might have high standards (I'm not going to let a mix-match family of celestians, serens and gloms take up the Imperial Family name of Farain - who were a family of near exclusively merian zealot priests). Of course, nothing is set in stone. So feel free to send your family's head to chat at me (other orgs should talk to an active patron from their own org), and we can probably get you guys set up!

Serenwilde has the Oakvine family and there's also this clan (I forgot the name) of Aslarans in the Kryden(?) Valik (in case the family name wasn't mentioned).

Wait. Emperor Ladantine's family was not an Imperial Family? blackeye.gif
