That wasn't the bug heh, the bug was aeromancer raise staff costing us the first and second over time games. When you got it, it was clean and fair.

I was just talking in general, no vested interest since I don't play anywhere near as much anymore. Good run
Bugs did crop up in this one though, raise staff not respecting brumetower cost Ardmore and Xenthos the hamster.

Just to clear up any doubts. Also, nothing wrong with creativity.
P.S. A dark miasmic taint engulfs Romero, and he attempts to plunge his hand into Sidd's chest, but his fist bounces harmlessly off his skin. Failed wrack after statue.

I think we've finally gone crazy from lack of sleep, but then again. Snowball fights are fun!!!
I'm starting to worry that we've encountered yet another bug tho.

The issue was that we won 2x over except for a bug that was used twice. :/

The whole challenge is weird that way. It's not really a "bug" and it's not really "abuse," since flying to dodge is bad, but Aeromancers don't have much choice in the matter. But still, if raise staff stripped the hamster and dropped it at the feet of my 16 year old alt who wasn't even playing, said alt very well could have won just because the competition doesn't appropriately credit the person who does well for a long time. I suppose that fits the Chaos theme and credit prizes are nothing to sneeze at, but still.

No, there was an actual bug. Details are not to be discussed on forums (but afaik it's not against the rules to state that there is a bug).

Hate when I go to do something outside the game then get sucked in by something that happens and in the process, completely forget I was doing something else. =(

You're absolutely right Azoth, rather than fighting over the purple hamster we should hold crafting contests and miniature battles.
That's a huge strawman argument. No one is suggesting that the seven-ninths of the Seals contests, or the 95% of Lusternia as a whole, that is dominated by combat, shouldn't remain dominated by combat. No one's suggesting Death and War should become dance contests, or that we should have a quest that neutralizes fighters and lets haiku kill smobs. The tendency to encroach always goes the other way: combat tends to take over everything, including those few parts of the game that weren't, and weren't supposed to be, all about combat. (Notice how Culture is no longer about culture, but about the combat surrounding one ill-designed, ill-advised quest, which now trumps all the efforts of people who are trying to add culture to the world.) But nothing else even tries to displace combat, nor could it, nor is anyone even proposing it should. The reason the bitching is always against combat's tendency to encroach on everything else, and not the reverse, is because there is no reverse to resist. And it's disingenuous of you to try to recast a holding action as a forward offensive.

Last year's Beauty gripe-fest was rooted in designs winning that the Charites would have rejected in the other eleven months of the year, countered by Estarra's argument that the contest shouldn't be a typo competition.
Actually that was the previous year. Last year the Beauty judges were fastidious about that issue, and all the winning designs were pretty nearly perfect.

PS: The Globglob quest only "upsets" the culture scores if they're close enough for the time it's up to actually make a difference. It doesn't enhance the effect of scholars / bards at all. It actually takes (gasp) cultural activity and works to get the scores close enough for him to make a significant difference.
And the only reason it's being done so much now is that Glom's and Seren's scores are so close, so by raising him, we can take Culture Center.
Which is, y'know, the point of the quest. You could also do it yourself to keep culture center, and there's no combat involved. On either side.
Edit: I guess I should say no PvP combat, since it's all Avenger protected. You have to kill some NPCs, but eh. They're mostly non-sentient mutants!

If this were a Star Trek forum Xenthos would be everyone's least favorite nerd.
"AAAAACTUALLY, in episode 13 season 4 Captain Picard's badge was green in scenes 4-6 and blue in scenes 7-8, NOT blue in scenes 4-6 and green in 7-8. Therefore there were no continuity problems within this episode BUT it does go against the precedent set in season 2 episode 4. Get with the program guys."

Xenthos didn't disprove Lendren's point, though. All he said was 'The quest only matters when another orgs really competes. Oh wait, they do. Yea, that's why we do the quest. And yes, there is combat involved. Suck it up.'

Except that Lendren's point is that it is only about combat, when this quest doesn't make a single spot of difference if the organizations are not close at all based on cultural works. He stated that it is "no longer about culture," which is demonstrably false. For example, if Hallifax was to do Glogblob, there's no chance they'd get center. Period. They just don't have the cultural backing for it.
Also, I just said there was no PvP combat involved. It is Avenger protected. Or did you not read that part?
(I'm pretty sure he's not complaining about the NPC bashing because, well, he can and has NPC bashed many times in the past. And even then, it makes no difference if the organizations aren't already very close on the culture rating prior to this.)
The exact quote is: "Notice how Culture is no longer about culture, but about the combat surrounding one ill-designed, ill-advised quest, which now trumps all the efforts of people who are trying to add culture to the world."
I think it's pretty obvious that this is just not true.
Veyrzhul2010-01-10 17:30:21
Fact is, when the quest can negate their efforts to become cultural center each and every time, it is obvious that the quest is the final deciding factor.
Now as to whether the quest is decided by combat or not, Avenger-protected pvp is still pvp. Glomdoring has enough people to repetitively waste the little caring opposition they'd face by Serenwilde, before having to worry about the Avenger. Aside of which, you can hinder people well enough without killing them.
