I'm considering customizing mine into a miniature black hole, yay for vacuum's many meanings
Felicia2010-04-26 16:06:13
So it's a piece of furniture? Not a wearable something?
Actually, it does sound pretty cool to have. But perhaps they'll do something like this for next year's Earth Day.

it's just a hand-held item
Aubrey2010-04-26 16:25:03
Yay I was able to get it. Thank you!

Sometimes, I get misinterpreted. Most of the time, the said interpretations make me seem bad. I should really work on being more verbose and explain myself every once in a while. I dislike it when these things, a bad connection, and a deadline for a quest combine.
Realization: There are murals you have to make on your own because others will have trouble envisioning the outcome because of the many scribbles and lines and patches of colour that clash and seem dull and/or meaningless to them.

It's one of these:
But baskets and jewelryboxes are also held items artisans make. A basket lasts about 25 months, holds not more than ten items, can't be closed, and only preserves food. The vacuum lasts forever, holds a lot more than ten items, not only closes but locks perfectly, and preserves everything. Why would anyone use a basket? (Jewelryboxes are similar to baskets, but last longer and can be locked and preserve jewelry, and cost a lot more.)
Anyway, I'm just grousing, it's no big deal. Artisan already wasn't a way to make money. And baskets are not a big part of what little business we have as it is. It's more sad because of the loss of an area to invest creativity -- we already have so many things (like chandeliers) that no one ever buys, so while you can sit around designing them, it ultimately feels kind of pathetic since no one ever bought one of the other ten designs you already did. (If the Charites would give us some new wallfeatures and smalltables and windchimes and such, though... hint hint.)

Don't worry, the market for baskets and jewelry boxes will still be there, or at least it will in another four to six months.
Not everyone is going to get the vacuum -- including newer players who don't even realize what's going on, and also anyone who'll be away from the game for a few days. I myself have no idea where the quest is, what it entails, nor any desire to pester org members for information about it or rush around all over the place just to get a shiny.
I see people asking for transport on the Market channel, asking about bubblixes on the org channel (and being ignored, everyone else is off-Prime somewhere though), and yeah... probably not worth the hassle for someone with my knowledge of the game, which is still pretty basic.

People flying around to aetherbubbles for Earthday thing left a LOT of critters around. This was just near Cankermore.

I don't think there'll be much. There will be some new players then who won't have vacuums, but the lion's share of possible customers at any given time are the people who've been around a long while. We'll probably sell more of them for gift-giving and picnics than for preservation (actually maybe we already do). But like I said, it's not that big a deal.

Good idea on using vacuums instead of baskets. Done!
Siam2010-04-26 22:01:29
What about food in a basket within a vacuum?
Gleip2010-04-26 22:07:53
Did you just put a portable hole in a bag of holding?
And much awesomeness to Renny for bothering to fly me all around and get me my own vacuum cleaner. ZOOOOOOOOM.

Items check the container they are in, not the container their container is in.
This is why items in a backpack in a stockroom still decay.

I saw my first play in Lusternia, and I think it was really awesome. I liked it so much that I may have found a roleplay motiff for my character Jelaludin-- patron of the arts
When someone is doing these plays, do they have to type out the lines etc.? How does it all work?
