Getting enemied because someone raged about dying in neutral territory after being asked to leave. Ahh love it.
Lemme make sure I understand this, since I know who/what you're talking about.
Someone is doing a quest in neutral territory. You don't like it, ask them to leave, they refuse, you kill them.
Are you seriously not understanding why you were enemied? Not that it's not funny, but still.
Sylphas2010-05-08 13:27:05
Still can't beat getting enemied for defending your own territory.

So what's your point, that I deserved to have been enemied because I wouldn't let them see the fruits of the better part of a day in constant effort for a quest (that was bugged rather tragically, adding to the frustration)?
Doing so certainly would be funny, but not as funny as being banned to help them...for -helping- bring in power to that person's org, by unsaid person. That's hilarity in motion.

And that's enough of this argument in this thread, which Shaddus seems to have forgotten isn't Lack of Rants 'cause he's still writing his posts as if it was...hint!

Fixed, but don't expect that often/in every case (1 z marker in one area is not the same as 1 z marker in another. Or even in the same area.)

I know not to expect the coordinates between areas to be the same, and sometimes stuff seems to be moved around in the same area 'cus there's already something occupying that space, and that they're not real 3D coordinates describing the area's layout, just the maps. Though, if I see some other cases similar to that Tosha one, is that the type of thing I could typo? =O

No, you can't really typo it. Tosha was just easy to fix (I have a command that shifts all the rooms in an area in a given direction).
Generally how area maps work is that the 'centre' is 0, 0, 0 and it expands out from there (hopefully three-dimensionally!). So in that way, Tosha is actually now 'off'. I'm pretty ambivalent though, I'm fine with it lining up w/ the Razine's coordinates.
Each area should be viewed independently (I once considered actually going through and making Z=0 sea-level and adjusting every area appropriately, but making the Zenobia's Chamber 0, 0, -1563538 didn't seem greatly appropriate - no more than making the razine peaks +1563538 ).
(....And Estarra would probably have murdered me!)

Oh oh wait, I see what happened. If you look, the local area of that path is still in Razine Mountains(according to survey and the range of certain abilities) until you reach the actual monastery's level. So the path leading up's coordinates were lined up with Tosha's instead of the mountain's. I hadn't even noticed it was lined up with Tosha because don't think to compare coords when crossing areas. =o
EDIT: Looking at some other spots I've noticed with weird coordinates, it seems their area on the map isn't lined up with their actual area, either. I'm guessing the 'area by map' and 'area by survey' or whatever you'd call it, are stored separately, yah?

I could map the entire game on one map if I wanted to. Rikenfriez is another example of cross-area mapping.

Mhmm, that was one of the spots. I can deal with that, knowing what it is now, but it is a bit inconsistent. D:

I agree. I wish there was a line from when you draw on your personal reserves like there is for when you draw on the powerstones. That way, I could create an easy trigger to stop enchanting or replace the powerstone.

Mapping is one of the reasons I prefer IRE MUDs.
I'm geographically challenged, so a user-configurable, server-side map and simple room layouts make my experience much more enjoyable. (By "simple layouts," I only mean that the implementers don't sprinkle false exits, multi-exits, one-ways, and not-to-scale pathways everywhere.)
I played one of the garden-variety "late 80s, early 90s" oldschool MUDs a few years ago, and mapping it with zMUD was a nightmare, pure and simple.

I feel slightly amused that this still comes up when raids on Gaudiguch are relatively sparse. I sympathize with not wanting to chase raiders around when you were happily doing something else a moment ago, but if you plug "stupid reason" with "boredom" (which is probably true anyways), the best you have left to be annoyed at is that they picked you to raid instead of a different org.
