What's going on?
Unknown2010-05-13 21:27:55
They've just bumped up the number of comms needed to make certain items. Kata weapons, for instance, used to be about 25-50 comms per, now they're 200.

I'd love to hear the explanation on that one.
edit:
(Peasantface): Talan (from the Prime Material Plane) says, "Poor Dylara."
(Peasantface): You say, "Huh?"
(Peasantface): You say, "Why poor me?"
(Peasantface): Talan (from the Prime Material Plane) says, "Well you keep sites with designs yes?"

Sigh, just as I'm preparing to design a bunch of clothing and jewelry, too. Well, I hope the overall cost to create, say, a blouse doesn't change by more than a few hundred sovereigns.
Increasing Artisan comm requirements is definitely a low blow. The skill set needs a revamp that has yet to materialize (in my opinion, anyway), so there's a classic case of adding insult to injury.

Hey, think on the bright side. Maybe they're about to implement kata weapon tempering and they just want to bump it in line with master weapons.
I can't rationalize the artisan stuff of course, unless they're deciding to make them all auto nodecay or something.
EDIT: wtf with 40% increase in robe costs. *riots*

I'm glad I made all those clothes the other day instead of today...

I certainly hope so, or it's old forging all over again.

Subj: Tempering Kata Weapons and Commodity Adjustments
We have just released the ability to temper kata weapons. In line with
that, we have also adjusted the commodity price for kata weapons to keep
them in line with warrior weapons, being that now you can temper and
don't need to keep reforging.
Further, we have adjusted commodities across the board for every trade
skill. Part of the reason for this is there has been a snowballing glut
in commodities and we want to start adjusting that to make commodities
more worthwhile and making the commercial government more attractive.
As part of this change, I would like to encourage cities and communes
not to stockpile commodities that trades need. With the possible
exception of marble and wood (which are sometimes used for adding rooms
to cities and communes), there is really no reason that cities and
communes to need excessive amounts of commodities. Sure, putting some
away for a rainy day may make sense but some of the present levels of
stockpiling is simply unnecessary.

The lack of shield-inclusion is kind of a bummer, but eh, oh well.
Doman2010-05-13 21:46:12
okay, unless splendors get made non-decay, 200 comms is -insane-

At least us forgers shan't have to ever hide from monks!

Use a cabinet and a stasis gem. That's what I do! I'm wearing the same set of robes I bought in September.

Hm.. they removed the option to make designs mortal or nomortal review. All they all mortal review now then?
Unknown2010-05-13 21:52:31
I agree, now that we shouldn't stockpile comms, please give them to me for a billion more pits.

Ugh. Some of those mortal reviewers have... questionable judgment.

These comm increase just says for people to stockpile now to me...

Yeah... higher comm requirements == comms are more important == need to hoard even more for when the ReallyBigStuff comes along (which it does from time to time). Especially since now there is a lot of ReallyBigStuff. I guess we'll see.

After three or four returns for stupid, stupid crap, NOMORTALREVIEW was a godsend.
