All of this is making me want to make a Gaudi alt, then being like really polite and hardworking and when someone tries to tell me that I should be lazy and anarchic, I'll yell at them to quit stepping on my freedom to be productive! laugh.gif

Join the Templars, I need opinions. wub.gif

Unfortunately, my complete maxi-suck at fighting makes any warrior guild a bad idea for me. laugh.gif

I am slightly sad, but you're too bubbly to be too unhappy.

Shiny new system I put together and I can't get any comments other than people saying it shouldn't do something it doesn't do. sad.gif

Are you going to post it in the Mechanic's Corner?

Oh, it's an advancement system for a guild, not a coded system. God, anything I could produce system wise would be scary. shocked.gif

I gave you my input, and really, people who call it too inaccessible are the cancer killing Gaudiguch anyways, so why do they matter?

With all the mentions of anarchy and chaos going around, I'm surprised a /b/ comparison never occurred to me before. Is that what's it's turning into over there?

I subconsciously used the phrase. It might be that we aren't far off the mark though, sometimes. I should leave it to somebody else to make the comparisons, though.

It isn't turning into anything it hasn't been since the start.

When it opened, between Scuchi and then Kalikai, we definitely got a pretty strong dose of one facet of Gaudi. Since then, the rapidly stale drug references and antics have died back quite a bit, nearly entirely. (That I replace them with the perhaps equally as stale allegories is another issue, but I like to pretend that mine take effort.)

What is keeping gaudi "down", in my opinion, is a more systemic macro level thing, the remedies to which all involve way too much drama to get in to in any public OOC venue.

Without running too far off the rails into what is best left IC, freedom does not necessarily follow from having "few laws". Saying "do what you like, so long as it doesn't harm the city" leaves a massive caveat in the interpreation of "harms the city" that could be used as a hammer against almost any nail. Since the people that enforce the laws here are also largely the ones who write and interpret them, its really easy to cry tyrant, when, by the nature of the mechanics, that is essentialy the tool we're given to work with.

Edit- also in hindsight, the family name drama above was actually handled ICly rather well. We even used the conference room! If I had been there for all of it, I'd have posted a log perhaps.

Aw, don't feel sad. It isn't that I don't think it'd be neat. I do! It's just me. I cannot stress enough how bad I am at fighting. The only time I'm halfway along the scale towards adequate is when defending in a group because someone tells me who to target and gives me a job to do. Then, all I have to remember to do is keep an eye out for who to target next and try to keep hitting the right alias for the job I've been given. And trust me, even then I can mess up. laugh.gif

I figure, with that sort of non-talent, eventually, someone'll get irritated and call me names and then I'll get mad and unhappy and it'll be unpleasant all around.

So, I avoid warrior guilds.

It really wasn't. tongue.gif

Unless you mean, "it was handled IC before it bled onto the forums," which is true.

Well yeah. It seemed mostly resolved before it showed up here. tongue.gif

Well, I apologize for asking the seminal question and taking a side too hastily where that's concerned, for what it's worth.

I think this is the most encouraging thing I've read on the forum in a while. Kudos.

Has Hallifax fleshed out beyond the "bureaucracy is funny" thing, too?
Ileein2010-05-18 01:13:32
Yup! We've even got a Collectivist Manifesto for the discerning reader.

(Though seriously, come to Gaudi)
