I went to rescue someone, died, and ended up being rezzed by that same person!

Well, obviously you did your job well, if they lived long enough to resurrect you! laugh.gif

I was out hunting with some novices the other day, got to Air right as Arel died and randomly resurgemed him. Would have been more fun if he hadn't been afk or disconnected, but it amused me nonetheless. You don't often randomly get a coven with that kind of timing, especially in Hallifax. smile.gif

Don't the Moondancers have a law about not resurgeming non Seren unless they are defending Serenwilde?

Not that I'm aware of. I always randomly resurgem people when I'm bored, have a coven handy, and feel like blowing 10 power for lols. From looking at the news, it was probably a policy of Kelysa's or something that never actually got codified.
Riluna2010-05-26 17:57:09
Oh yes there is. Major spiritual ramifications and all that. A Seren even got enemied to Moonspirit over it, if I recall. Can't remember the specifics. I got chewed out once for resurging a guy who quit the commune a couple hours before. Think about it. The GM of the Moondancers using Mother Moon's gifts to resurge someone you're technically at war with?
Harkux2010-05-26 17:57:09
Still funny that a GM would assist people in an org their allies are at war with.

Sylphas2010-05-26 18:05:50
Yeah, because ressing a guy who is hunting his own elemental plane really hinders the war effort.

I honestly don't care IC or OOC. If there's a rule on the books, I'll stop, but I doubt it. A huge amount of Moondancer "rules" are just tradition or whatever the current leader decided they felt like enforcing.

EDIT: It's also fun to charge Hallifax for the power I use resurgeming their populace. I randomly get letters full of essence and usually make a net profit with the Aspects empowered.

'I don't care about RP, I'm GM so I can do whatever I want with the moondancers'?

Edit::

Wow. I'm not really sure how to put what I want to say politely so I'll just leave it at that statement makes me sad.
Gregori2010-05-26 18:11:29
Some GM probably resurgemed a raider and so banned the use of the skill on non seren instead of just being more careful next time. GMs are good for banning skills they could have just been more careful with, in the Moondancers.
Siam2010-05-26 18:12:02
Well, to be fair, there were no rules about ressing outsiders, really - just a 'please refrain from doing so' thing. The post Sylphas might be referring to is likely Kelysa's post during the Hai'Gloh era, which never actually forbid it, just another please refrain from doing so thing. Could always turn it into a rule if you want to be satisfied.

Actually, how did he say he didn't care about RP? He said neither he, nor his character, care about that rule/tradition. But how is it not completely legitimate roleplay for his character to think that a rule or tradition is outdated and either change or ignore it? Just because something's been done doesn't mean it always has to be done or done the same way.
Sylphas2010-05-26 18:16:30
Not at all. Sylphas's RP has never been strict "OMG Moon is absoutely sacred I have to purify myself and go do a ritual before and after I use any of the skills." I don't find anything wrong with resurgeming non-Seren, unless someone were going to try and enforce that you HAD to it. I don't think it's bad RP. If you want to discuss the tenets of Moon and the guild in game, go for it.

Edit: Seriously, Sylphas would love the debate, talk to him IC!
Riluna2010-05-26 18:25:04
Wow. The High Priest of the Moondancers doesn't find Mother Moon's gifts sacred anymore. The one who wanted to unenemy everybody because guild enemies were "just a way to make gold", now using Moon's skills to make a profit. Hilarious, Sylphas. laugh.gif

So glad I left. I don't have to RP caring anymore. biggrin.gif
Xavius2010-05-26 18:28:41
That was pretty harsh even by my standards, and I'm not exactly soft.

Er, no. You've tried to pin me to that already once, and it was ludicrous then. I never once said "unenemy everyone". I wanted to take a look at how we decided guild enemy status and make sure we had a consistent reason, instead of just randomly doing it. Guild enemy status has zero mechanical effect, so the guild needs to make it have a purpose. Too often people use it a way to say "If you want unenemied to OrgA, you have to clear all of your other statuses to OrgB, OrgC, and OrgD" and it does nothing but artifically inflate your fine.

I don't sit around ressing people to charge for it, I ress people who happen to die a few rooms away from me if I happen to have a coven (unless they're enemies). It's called compassion, and I can argue with you all day that it's one of Selene's main tenets.

I'm glad you left too, but I'm not going to pick apart the job you did as GA on the forums like you seem content to do to mine as GM.
Noola2010-05-26 18:36:07
What's up with people thinking that roleplay has to be so two-dimensional? Why can't the High Priest of the Moon Coven have other concerns? Why is it bad roleplay for him to not think Moon is the be-all-end-all? You think there are real life priests who don't put their own agenda ahead of their religion's? People are complex and there's nothing wrong with playing a complex character.

Now, deciding that a Moondancer who doesn't care about Moon all that much is a bad Moondancer - that's one thing. You can legitimately argue that. Though it may or may not be true.

But, saying that a player who plays a Moondancer who doesn't care about Moon all that much is a bad roleplayer, that's just silly, IMO.
