It's okay, usually just ignore them and they can't choke/insta grow bored and leave.

If this is the way of telling me there is no size limit, that will be regretted very quickly.
An actual figure was cited once that was absurdly small, and thus pretty much universally ignored. 100 pixels tall, maybe? Anyways, all it really takes is him removing his shameless IC ads for IC activities from the OOC medium and properly respecting where the game starts and ends, and it'll all be peachy-keen!
Felicia2010-06-09 01:56:44
300 pixels is the latest word on signature limitations, I think. And yes, Siam's signature egregiously violates those limitations, along with some people's eyeballs and perhaps even the laws of physics.
I don't mind it myself, as it's not particularly flashy or obnoxious and I find it mildly interesting... but if everyone's sig were that large, I'd turn them off board-wide.

The bolded portion is why Xavius is better than most of you.

Yeah, I wish people didn't blur the forum/IC line quite so much. I'd considered keeping my character a secret, so that I wouldn't be ostracized in-game over a terrible forum argument about Tabasco sauce vs. Texas Pete (for example, and Texas Pete is better, by the way), but I could see when I registered that people expect you to be forthcoming about your character's identity.
But hey, there's always the option of not using the forums. I get enough positive stuff from the forum to outweigh the line-blurring to IC, so here I stay. It is what it is.
On the other hand, I enjoy 50% OOC/50% IC MUDs. There are MUDs like Aardwolf, which are 100% OOC, and then super-strict MUSHes, where you can't discuss stats in any way, must meet someone in person and at length before you know their name, can send them tells, etc. I like the middle road, and IRE MUDs are that, so that's good.

I prefer the middle of the road as well.

I am not able to advertise ICly to a wide range of people because I play at off-peak, so I use the forums. Also, if you can point me somewhere that explicitly states the bolded part of your post, then I'm willing to take my ads down. If not, then sorry. They're staying.
Unknown2010-06-09 14:45:18
Last I checked, the news boards reached people. And, if they're not reading the news, they're probably not literate enough to be working for the library.
And, yes, that signature is out of control.

Don't you have aides who can advertise it when you're not there?
(Not that I care about the size of your's or anyone else's signature. Scrolling never bothered me. I'm just curious about how come you're worried about advertising. )

I've met new players (alt or not, I'm not sure) who are quite literate and haven't read the news yet. Take note that I met them during peak times.

Most of my actual aides usually play the same times I do. The others are aides for a special reason so I don't ask them to do the actual aide stuff.
EDIT:
I keep forgetting to turn metawake off and I only tend to notice it when my willpower gets into the red zone.

Alas, whatever side of the issue you're on, you're going to have to argue with the moderators and not with Siam:
Last Chance Trading Post
Trader Bob has expanded to the forums! Post here for selling and bartering goods and services!
Last I checked, goods and services were IC. So is Trader Bob.

I couldn't care less about the library thing, though I disagree a bit on the definition of peak vs off-peak. It's just the size of the signature...

It does seem to grow, but I'm not sure it's quite to the point where they will go trim it themselves yet.
What is your resolution, anyways? I don't tend to get annoyed by them until they take up a good quarter to third of the screen. His is at about a fifth right now.

He shrunk it some time last night.
