Well, there's a difference between people doing it for the epic leg, and people spamming it every time it is up, which is what I think Arel's problem is. Though, really, the nomad camp gets it just as bad sometimes. Look at it this way, it pays shop taxes. And at least its a more elegant hindering than dip-poops killing quest mobs.

I don't really mind people doing the quest, after all, that's why quests are there. It is just annoying when it is always on. The Hand is an enormous hassle without it being interrupted by the Mesa being raided. Back when the cities first opened, there was sort of an unspoken rule not to spam those quests and everyone (besides Daedalion) generally abided by it.

Whoever suggested doing the counterquest: I really don't want to. I'm not much of a quester in the first place and I'm not going to continuously do that one just to be aggravating.

I'm apparently the only person in Mag who does anything for the newbies and novices.

He was defending and we were raiding, props to him for trying to help and not bailing on everyone

Yeah, see, I'm against killing novices too. But, if a novice is in an area where fighting is happening (and especially if he or she is taking part) then expecting people not to kill em is a bit much. I mean folks prolly just think "NAME did an attack on me, target NAME!" in all that scroll. (Which is even more than I can catch half the time when I try to fight! laugh.gif )
Razenth2010-06-15 20:01:32
It'd be kind of hilarious if you cleared all the important people, and just left one little novice plunking away at you and you just ignore him.

"Sorry guv, but you're just not worth my time."

I agree. Newbies who want to go up and help defend should expect that they are going to die. Especially when we are trying to get more people, even lowbies and newbies, involved.

I used to be that little guy, relatively speaking, who was the last man standing. We'd fight and fight in big groups until the dust settled, and it was just me left standing there with the enemies... and then I'd calmly walk home and wonder what just happened.
Lendren2010-06-15 21:03:45
He was actually the first one down.

(I missed that fight, after being in the preceding four or five, due to having a work appointment. No one even told me how it went when I got back. No one seems to want to talk about it. But that death happened while I was still heading to my safe quit point.)

I can think of a few times that happened, actually. It was never really regarded as a common courtesy but occasionally people would just gust/mountkick/etc. the noob in question and walk away.

It is rapidly moving from a boondoggle to a quagmire! Four candidates started out in the election, several running on a "I am not the incumbent" strategy. Mudslinging and negative campaigning started almost immediately, with each candidate of course decrying that their opponents forced them into such base tactics.

Soon the first casualties began to emerge. Conservative aetherhost Mush Muckleburg found a chink in one candidate's armour that they themselves revealed via a gaffe, severe enough that they made a public announcement stating "I am not a plant!" Or at least, we think that's what they said, we couldn't find anyone that speaks rustle.

A second candidate looks to be caught up in a bribery scandal, when a person of unknown association was publicly outed attempting to buy votes from demographics less cemented into their political positions. It has yet to be seen whether the candidate can shake the fallout from this incident.

One candidate is coming under fire from political pundits for busing in nomads from the desert, obstensibly as a civic duty, though opponents say this claim is dubious, and that they've promised that their vote means a shiney new Hand of Tzaraziko for everyone.

Finally, an examination of voter registration records reveals that there is a disturbingly high number of registered voters who haven't walked the streets for 500 years, or have identical names to beasts stabled by the dracnari beastmasters, or are actually the names of people not citizens at all. Worse, some of these have voted multiple times, and Shuyin shows up no less than six.

More of this is true than you might think.
