ooh would be interesting to see the results without a vote weight. Mainly because the minimum voters for incumbent verses opposition are both 21 (if everyone had a vote weight of ten except the one person who makes it come out uneven. And yeah, it's 21 for opposition if you do that off the total or each individual then add the results) so I wanna see whether the opposition, as a group, lost because more people voted for Kalin or if they just needed to log a few more hours last week.

I would be a sad panda if I only got half as many votes as a shrub.

Man, I was hoping we would have gotten an elected leader through bribes. I needed some epic lulz this weekend.
Shaddus2010-06-18 17:21:06
Hrm, someone let me know what Athenas got plantified for. I need some lulz.
Saran2010-06-18 17:32:21
lol, looked number of voters for each average vote weight. It's, roughly, equal/off by one voter, unless the average vote weight is three or less, between kalin and the opposition.
Kinda makes me want to have the election results show total votes for each nominee alongside the total vote weight (even though winning would still be based off of vote weight)

Tyrant-in-training: 51%
Corrupt politician attempting to buy votes: 38%
Shrub: 7%
Raging emo conspiracy theorist: 4%
Lessons learned:
Bribes work, but not well enough.
When in doubt, vote for the incumbent.
Ron Paul's platform couldn't even pass muster against a shrub in Lusternia. (EDIT: Or, Ron Paul's platform at least requires coherent speech/spelling to be considered.)

As long as he's a Vetinari-style tyrant.

Loboshigaru is not the race for influencing. It's even more not the race for fighting a pair of shadowdancers singlehandedly. Sometimes I wish I could buy an extra change for the month. (In fact...)

Interestingly, the headlines of the local economic newspaper suggested that selfish and greedy individuals are more likely to attain leadership positions.
Anyway, why is it so important to be around exactly when the events happen? Can't you just join the guild as soon as you return to play anyway?

But then they won't be a founder, and can't try for a leadership position.

That's a rather stupid reason isn't it? And bad for the guild. A guild's future shouldn't be decided by who happened to be around when it opened.

Idle wishing in a thread dedicated to off-the-wall thoughts is not going to alter when the guild comes out.

I'm just finding it odd. It's not something you should wish for. You wouldn't want me or my mentor to lead the Gaudiguards, no matter how early we got into the guild. It's just something to think about. If you know you aren't properly equipped to lead a guild, then refraining from joining until after all the leadership stuff is done would be good for you and the guild. And you don't have to stress about being first. It means nothing if it is all up to the luck of being around anyway.
Unknown2010-06-18 23:00:58
Many, many people want their 15 minutes of fame, no matter the cost to anything larger than themselves.

Oh, it's not entirely luck: the admin has a hand in deciding which applicants get to become founders. But if you aren't around, you can't apply. And I wouldn't say 'know you aren't properly equipped' applies to everyone.
At any rate, I've been around for the whole month, and this next week is just a bad time for me. I would thus consider it bad luck for me, and would be a little put off, if what I consider an interesting opportunity were to be removed due to unavoidable IRL commitments.

Hey, don't pin what someone did when Ulv hadn't logged on for 2 days on her. She was just the absentee candidate.
