Even if they are the only natural source of crystal it's pretty safe to say that it's not just:
-Rock goes in.
-'Witchcraft' happens
-Crystals come out.

There's a process behind it and with all those scientists I'm betting they could duplicate it on a large enough scale to build a city without making it out of rockeater guts.

Glass and crystal designs use raw gem comms iirc. And I'm pretty sure they get mined.

GMCP tells you when an artifact resets... that's going to be spammy.

My favorite part about this is how many people are actually taking this seriously enough to seek to refute it.

Raw gems come from rockeaters. The commodity doesn't increase unless folks turn rockeaters over to villages.

I think it's funny that the Lucidian city might be using dead Lucidians to build it's buildings with.

Kind of has that Soylent Green feel to it.

Oh! Oh! Someone design a room where like there's a dead Lucidian fused into a support beam or something and you can see his face. Extra points if the eyes seem to follow you wherever you go in the room!

Ahem.

1) All mining villages passively produce gems. They are found while mining. (In fact, the geomycus love gems, they're 'treats' because, unlike the metals, the gems don't answer the songs. So they get pushed out with metals by chance!)

2) Rockeaters do not produce gems. They eat stone, their stomachs are hot as lava, and melt away the rock and metals, leaving only the gemstones - which don't melt.

3) Rockeaters can be killed and the gemstones inside their stomach removed by villagers to be sold in their shop(s).

Oh. Ok. Well, I still think using dead Lucidians as building materials is funny.

Diamonds must not be carbon in Lusternia, because at that temperature they'd vaporise into rockeater farts.

The melting point for a diamond is around 3550 degrees, celsius.

The average temperature of lava is only around 1150 celsius, or so.

Not the same thing, but there's a bridge in Magnagora made of fused-together bodies.

I've seen it. It's pretty awesome.

Diamonds will, however, actually ignite at a lower temperature (~700 degrees celsius in pure oxygen, apparently, and in air, it's ~850). It's carbon, after all.

But this requires oxygen, which presumably is not found in rockeater guts (unless they really do get turned into rockeater farts).

I think we can be safe to say that A) the temperature of a rockeater's stomach is a bit less than 1k degrees celsius, and I doubt there's a whole lot of oxygen present.

In other words, diamonds aren't going up into rockeater farts.

Though that'd be a good argument for lessening the amount of diamonds, and the chance to spawn....

Really, I wasn't looking for accuracy so much as a reason to say "rockeater farts".

Please don't give them ideas to curb gem production, especially diamonds.
