I've thought about asking the Shofangi if they want to be "part of" the Serenguard, per se, like warriors once were for the Wiccans and Druids way back in Serenwilde's history.
That doesn't help their RP identity one bit.

I disagree, Rika! Sometimes the best place for a person is right beside another person. I think it would be very interesting for one guild to take another under its wing until it formed a proper identity of its own, especially with declining population/leadership.

You missed my point, I think.

Well, not all the younger male Shavatts are Homosexual.

This might be a bit more snarky than I usually am (I blame my brother for my bad mood ) but, you know what I think the difference between the Shofangi and other monk guilds and the Nekotai is? It's that folks in the Shofangi are still, after all this time, saying, "What is our RP identity?" While the Nekotai, at some point, obviously said, "This is our RP identity."
I think that applies to the Institute and their worries over Harmonics as well.
It seems that people want to be told, "You believe in this. You do it this way. Your pieces fit together in just this exact shape and form this set image." And so when you're only given part of the pieces, or only a few loose threads, or a barebones framework to build on, you don't know what to do. Instead of seeing that you've got this wide open canvas that you can fill in however you want, you complain that no one's given you the paint by numbers instructions.
It's kind of frustrating just reading about it.
And I am NOT talking about everyone in those guilds or saying that no one has tried or worked hard. I know they have. That's not what I'm saying.

But then again, Glomdoring has its whole not-Welcoming thing going on.
My last novice I made there never got greeted on CGT and was never asked how he was doing. Which, compared to Gaudiguch or Seren, is just astounding to see.

I don't think that's true. I know I've helped Shiri write up some stuff that may or may not someday get done, and I've proofread other stuff, and brainstormed stuff. Lots was set up and then contradicted, and often, the tiniest bit of patron support would have made all the difference but was withheld. But most of the time, one or a few people tried to advance something with other players, only to find them apathetic, and often too quick to leave. Shiri kept this up for more than an RL year.

First, I want to make it clear that I'm not saying anything bad about you or Shiri or anyone else who tried and tried. You guys weren't the problem. It was the ones who decided that because you're not the Admin, what you planned out didn't count. Those are the people I'm talking about.

What you guys should do is solicit veteran players who care about RP who'd like to come back but are still looking for their niche.

Oh, don't give me any credit at all! I only brainstormed with Shiri a bit, but I was never a Shofangi and never contributed more than a few "let me run this idea by you" sessions. Shiri's the one who ran on dogged determination for a long long time (and finally ran out).

Well, Nekotai also have the benefit of actually having Grandmother Scorpion and related quests/areas. Do the Shofangi have anything like that to base their lore off of?
Nekotai has the great cult feeling. It has the sense that it fits in Glomdoring and isn't a foreign presence. Shofangi with all of its strange titles doesn't feel like it belongs even a little. But didn't the monk founders get to pick all that stuff? I'd love to hear why only the Shofangi went out of their way to make their guild weird and "special" with a total lack of english.
And I honestly think that has something to do with it--its hard to feel connected with something that you don't understand.

I'm pretty sure Shiri has tried many times to get something to do with the Bull Spirit as part of canon, but none of his attempts have been successful in getting past the admins. It just kind of sucks when we have so many guilds with amazing RP that was basically spoonfed to them while we also have guilds like the Shofangi who were basically given nothing and then have still have nothing despite the efforts of players to get more.

I don't know if I should be incredibly insulted, mildly insulted, pleased, or very pleased by the fact that people keep calling Lakya a maggot.

Good lord. Logged in to Glomdoring for 3 hours and only heard 1 thing said on CT and even though there are a decent number of people on.
How can anyone stand that?

In the best case scenario, it is an indicator that everyone is too busy doing awesome stuff like writing books and plays to chat over CT.
