Why would that bother me? I was around during the hai'Gloh event and for that stretch of time where Celest basically bent over for Magnagora.
Serenwilde will bounce back eventually, and it's very interesting (in my opinion) to establish your character's RP during heavy conflict. When your character is older, you get to do the grizzled old veteran thing. Even though I'm probably going to make a fail warrior without TransForging Anything, credits for Runes, etc. Plus... Turnus and Everiine seem really cool.

Hallifax needs to get a city executioner. It can brainwash you or jettison you from the city or something.
Why would Hallifax need an executioner when they have indentured servants? Executions are wasteful, the really 'lost cases' can just be used by the Institute for experiments. Much more efficient.

We'll have you jaded yet!
But this tiny part of me hopes that isn't true...

Edward Cullen is obviously the appropriate Shavatt choice.
I actually really like that actor!
The character, not so much.

The first character I ever encountered playing this game was... Noola! She infected me. And she keeps infecting me so long as I keep reading her forum posts. (Halp?) I still remember her as then-Aqueous Magister inducting little Human Denust into the Aquamancers.
EDIT: So yeah, getting me jaded is pretty difficult (because I'm crazy?). I mean, even if things get so bad that every Seren character is huddling in a manse or guildhall, that's still an opportunity right there. You don't get that many chances for group/guild-wide RP! And I may even get to submit something for Bardics with this character!
EDIT 2: I considered a Salamader-Mugwump Moondancer (full-on salamander with few-to-no human features), but I'm bored with casters so I went with (another) Loboshigaru for the Serenguard.

People saying that "they wanted to try making a pyromancer, but they suck now."
Well done, fraud of a special report! Well done indeed.
Could we get the stuff that wasn't way-too-broken-amutates rolled back and try again without the disingenuous lying please?

Not really. People lied, or at least weren't being epecially genuine if lying is too strong a word, and took a skillset that had a few WAY too good elements, and instead of just fixing it, turned the skillset into crap.
A start would be closing the burn level accumulation back up, and making them easier to stack, the way aeromancers synergize with herb cures and cloud coils.

Glommies in (Ethereal?) Serenwilde
Appending my previous post:
I really don't know what Serenwilde's leadership is doing at the moment, but if things really are getting that bad, then it wouldn't be the first case of org griefing (subjective and probably uninformed to call it griefing, I know) in the game. I also think that most of the major players in Glomdoring have proven on the forums to be reasonable people who understand when lines might start being crossed. Have you ever considered talking to the Shadow Council to ease up on the raids?
I think it was about two years ago that Magnagora had the same problem with Celest and they said something about it on the forums (don't know about IG). Catarin then made a city news post telling us to ease up. You never know if that's a possibility. Even if the Shadow Council shoots it down IG, you never know unless you try.
Chalcedony2010-07-11 22:53:36
All this talk about people leaving Serenwilde makes me caught somewhere between glad and guilty.

My last conversation with Narynth seemed to go like this:
Me: "Celina is summoning relatively non-comms to the Catacombs, not to kill them, but to let the garwights kill them."
Nar: "Oh well. Why don't you ask for peace?"
Me: "What do we have to offer? There is no incentive for you guys to stop beating our asses over and over and over. There are no concessions we can make that would ever happen, or that you don't just do already."
Nar: "That's true. We wouldn't agree to one anyway, but I figured I'd at least let you try and ask."
That's my memory of it, at least, maybe I took it the wrong way. But there isn't any way to stop Glom besides begging them to and them going "you know what, we really should stop." I don't see that happening anytime soon.
Furien2010-07-11 22:58:59
So I guess the answer is 'expecting people to have restraint' (Thul and Alacardael have thrown that out the window), 'expecting people to have decency' (I guess Narynth threw that one out the window) and 'expecting people to not give in to bloodlust' (whoever tried to wisp/hex people out of the Nexus room threw that out the window).
For the latter - I can recall some times as a Seren when we went the full nine yards and tried to force Nexus movement, but usually that was only for people that truly deserve it (IE, Urazial). But, generally, when you back someone up to their Nexus and there's nothing left to kill... you leave.
I'm glad my unified 'Everyone follow me so we'll all transverse Prime at once and they'll go away' bury-your-head-in-the-sand strategy was as effective as I'd hoped, though. (Sad)

There are days I'm honestly waiting for an Avatar to die.

No worries about that, it's pretty impossible to kill supermobs now. Glom would need at least 1 or 2 other orgs to do that, so just avoid stepping on other's toes.
And let's be honest, if all Glom asked 'hey make a public post saying we surrender and that night/crow are awesome' in order for it to stop, I have this vague feeling that SW would say no, even if the only cost of (temporary) peace was 1k gold and some swallowing of pride.

Hmm. Not meaning to sound, well, mean, but I can think of maybe one concession that can be made if Serenwilde weren't opposed to biting the bullet to cease all the raiding which I think can be handled by the Glomdoring government. Then again, I don't know how open people would be to complete subjugation by a foreign entity, but, say, unenemying procedures to institute shrines in place of the current pantheon could be interesting.
Of course, this is all just idealised in my mind but it would go something like:
Seren asks for reprieve -> Glom asks what offer -> Seren says full conquest -> Glom says k, unenemy and we remove your shrines/put up shrines of our own -> Seren goes under as part of Glom's territory.
Then it'd open up all sorts of possibility for a hidden rebellion and whatnot! Though, I honestly doubt it might ever happen, but it's one avenue that could happen and would stop Glom raids since then it'd be technically raiding our own property, but still...
-ponder- High level of skepticism and speculation goes here, but maybe some other ideas can get flowing.
Edit: Or what Shuyin put up there^. I got ninja'd

It's hard to swallow your pride when you'll just get :smug:'d across the board in every OOC clan you have with Glom players. (As tends to be the case even now. Even from the players that aren't contributing to the beatdown.)
Edit: Player-side perspective, of course.

I feel like one of the few things Serenwilde has left is pride.
Which goes hand in hand with bitterness.
But I never really got Seren's policy on making... policies.
As for killing supermobs, I'm pretty sure you all can, actually. It took Selene two hits to kill Sidd, so.

Well being smug is just a spoil of victory, heh, but yes, that's why I imagine anything even approaching RP surrender won't ever happen because No One Likes Losing ™. And e-teabagging.
Furien2010-07-11 23:17:33
So in order to actually have the players willing to give in that way, they'd have to accept the e-teabagging or they could go the Denust route and assume that the players behind the characters are reasonable people and won't take that too far.
(Which is largely why I'm expecting Denust to be crushed utterly at some point, but who knows.)

Nah. Those smobs pack quite a punch even in a group of say, 24. And, well, if people can't swallow their pride for a chance to stop the raiding, then they wouldn't be trying everything that they could, really, though it might just be me.
-ponder- I wonder if those invasion shrines can be made to be used outside of order wars. I mean, with my really skeptical idea up there, it'd be dandy if invasion shrines would..I dunno, move some of the tithes from the invaded org to the conquering org. Would get that bit of code used, anyway. Hmm. /babble
