hug.gif Lawliet. You were quicker than me, fair and square. I've always proclaimed that quest as being quite stealable so don't worry.

Can we get some sort of formalized diplomacy system now? This "he said, she said, he attacked, she raided" thing is just not fun. Fighting is great. War without an end sucks.

I just realised how utterly demoralising it can to be seriously outdone at every turn, not just combat and fighting, but in every possible way imaginable.

War to end all wars. Becuase it never ends!

Crazen should come back throwing giant Soulless eggs at the nexii, draining their power and threatening some unspecified doom. At the same time, giant hungry gophers, attracted by the eggs, come running in from outside the Basin and start digging, and surprisingly uncover four pieces of a giant mystical omelet pan that were previously buried in the four nations, as a result of some long-forgotten, hubris-ridden experiment. When the four pieces of the omelet pan are brought together by cooperation between the four nations, the next volley of eggs are caught and turned into a really big omelet that everyone could eat a piece of, gaining some kind of silly blessing and an honors line about surviving. Crazen, stymied, would storm off to his hiding place, vowing revenge. And then would pass a few months when Lusternia could have things like culture, roleplaying, politics, relationships, trade, joy, and similarly trivial things. Until Narsrim got bored again, at least.

I suppose until that happens, we can talk about a formalized diplomacy system, sure. Because god knows that all previous attempts to talk to the leaders of other nations have been regularly met with sane, reasoned, illuminated dialogue concerning real issues and principles.

See, part of the problem is that each nation is ruled by a council, which works fine in theory, but in digital practice, it creates a gigantic bureaucracy that means nothing gets done.

If I, as a guildmaster, had the power to negotiate treaties knowing full well they'd be carried out, would I? Of course! Do I have that power? Of course not, I'm a part of a council in a Commune, where we make decisions as a council.

So, for things like culture to flourish... we need dictatorships (or at least less bureaucracy).

Grow a mustache. I find that helps with dictatorships.

Gloms winning by attrition and war exhaustion. Perfectly viable strategy. Worked against Germany in WW1 and us in Vietnam. D:

No battle fatigue! *slap*
Mirami2009-10-12 02:31:14
Clearly, preemptive action didn't work for Serenwilde in the long run.

Here I thought it was by zerg. sad.gif
Razenth2009-10-12 02:40:45
The zerg is an integral part of it. In Lusternia, we effectively have bottomless manpower reserves, so attrition and exhaustion are like, the only way you can win. No blitzkreig style penetration and encirclements, no capturing the capital and centre of government... its just whoever gets beat down to the point they don't feel like playing the game anymore and want to do something else. Having a zerg lets you switch out people and stuff and gives you the manpower advantage to that overwhelmingness.
Talan2009-10-12 02:52:54
I agree. You should have gone through with selling us Celest months ago.

For Eventru to live there, Eventru would need to learn the meaning of the phrase 'tone it down'.

I once had him pop into a room with me and spam his golden entrance message some 100 times, HE NEEDS TO TONE IT DOWN.

Or I escalate with puns.
Eventru2009-10-12 03:09:32
I've been to the Wayfaire, Casilu.

Bring on the puns.
