For whatever reason, these rooms count for explorers... and tend to get monolithed, so if you want to explore, you have to explore when they're open.

On the other hand, if you put down a monolith, nobody's getting in. Further, nobody attacked or killed you, and everyone left right after. It's not even Wyrded (it was, but I truegrounded it before I left because that seemed a bit over the top). I'm not so sure what the rant's about. :/
