How long did it take Kalin to do all three epic quests and the 5 lines?
I did all three Serenwilde epic quests in less than a few hours and none of them needed to be prepped at all. So it took me 6 days give or take an hour to get the 5 lines, then 2 - 3 hours to do the actual quests, and I probably could have done them faster if I had known them beforehand.
I would say the forests have it pretty damn easy and should stop complaining.
Edit:; I am also pretty certain that all three quests I did could have been 90% completed by someone else with me just doing the final stages and having them done in less than 20 minutes. In fact, I know that is the case in Hifarae as it was mostly done when I got there.
Edit again: There is no reason at all why Serenwilde can't be churning out the epic items. Mirami is not on when full moon happens, give moonglory to next candidate. That moonglory should be passed around like a hot potato and epics should be coming off the assembly line in Serenwilde.

It took Kalin essentially no time at all for the first 5 lines and the first 2 quests.
Kalin was also not the only person getting lines during that time, I believe (so it could have been even faster). Others have lines and are moving right along, too.
You're still not answering the question on whether or not there is a limit on how quickly the statue can be re-built.
Gregori2009-12-28 13:36:17
See my last edit.
It took me essentially no time to get the lines and first two quests done too.
Ok, that's not fair, cause I started with 4 out of 5 lines, just as you did. How about a better example?
It took Aiyana essentially no time to get the first 5 lines and 2 quests done. In fact, I did all the work for her while she was at work, so when she got home all she had to do was shower, get prophecy, go to bed.
So your statement about "essentially no time" is not a statement that means anything due to a lack of any actual time reference being there. I mean fine, if you don't know how long just say so, but don't sit here arguing a case and only having guesses to back it up.
I have no idea how long it takes to rebuild the statue, and really that's a point that doesn't matter since the forests can assist in every single step on their quest as well. Without community counters causing someone to steal the honours out from under someone else.
Also just for the record, according to Ixchilgal, it took Kalin 5 days to get the 5 lines and nobody else was getting lines at the time.

Just because you have to do a long quest to grief Hallifax and Gaudiguch of their epic honours isn't that a fault of the quests. The Hand Quests are incredibly long, thematically fitting and already have a counter in place. Yes, if they work together it can be done a bit faster, a very little bit since the final quest takes quite long, but guess what. Doing an epic quest alone while maintaining some semblance of a real life, scratch that. Even if you work nonstop and only stop to sleep and such, it will take far longer to complete a city quest. So you have no reason to complain. Instead go read through the old politics newspost.
Gregori2009-12-28 13:39:52
Xenthos' argument holds no water because everything he is trying to say cities can do, the forests can do as well, and they don't have to worry about the lines being ninjaed by everyone around them. In fact I quite liked the fact that I knew exactly what time I had to do something in the quest. It meant I could plan ahead and be ready and make sure people knew to have various things set up for me.
In fact, the cities should be crying that they don't have it as easy as the forests.
Edit:: This just in. It takes Gaudiguch at best case 27 hours of actual work, just for the 5 honours lines. So a total diehard could probably do the entire thing in less than 48 hours from start to epic item, assuming someone didn't come along and ninja the things they needed or turn in things and get the line themselves forcing the person back another 5 hours. Compared to the 6 hours work a forest has to do, but is spread over a few days, and again they don't actually have to do it. They just have to set their watch and log on at the right time.

I quit Eventru's order, going to join Elostian's.
I didn't really do anything bad before I left though, I even offered a few things to try and appease the almighty.
Now I sorta feel like I should have had Alban say some sort of good bye on OT, but at the time I thought it would be better to leave quietly since I hadn't even been around for like a year.
Nymerya2009-12-28 16:11:12
Yeah, personally, I feel anything that long is a bit excessive. Fain didn't even punish me, and it's -Fain-. Faceearting -FAIN-.

did you ask Eventru if you could leave before you did? Most active gods will punish you if you don't and will do little to you after you ask. And while 10 days may seem excesive I also remember Eventru gives out truefavours like candy so in the end it probably balances out.

Like I said, I didn't do/say anything - I've never quit an order before so I wasn't really sure what best practice was.
It's not all bad though, I can spend some time updating my system, and there's 10 days of of enjoying Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin's Creed 2 that I got for Christmas with no distractions.
For future reference though I won't be quitting any order's without saying something first. >_>

That's because to Fain, everyone is somewhat disposable. If you actually mean something to Him, he'll get pissed and disfavour/maggot you.
I'm not saying you didn't mean something to him, but you know how Fain works.

This was sort of the impression I had for all God's, that if you were a high ranking order member and quit, bad things would happen, but if you were low ranked and quit they'd barely notice you. I was only order rank 6, so I thought having Alban try to talk to Eventru about leaving would be viewed as presumptuous.
I'm sort of scared as to what would happen if you were his Avatar and quit.

How in the hell did I end up in the middle of a Gaudiguch dramafest I didn't even start...or even do anything in!? Jesus christ, I'm debating just quitting the stupid org and going back to playing Aiyana.

27 "hours of work" (which does not even need to be done in entirety by the one person in question, correct?).
Based on your own numbers, if the city as a whole is working together on it, with a list of people to give the item to in order of if they are online or not when it finishes... (say, Kalin is #1 on the list, Ixchilgal #2, Vathael #3-- you let Kalin finish it if he is online, let Ixchilgal finish if he is online and Kalin isn't, Vathael if neither of the first two are, and so on down the line)...
Then you can see exactly what I mean by spammable, heh. You're giving out 5 lines in a 27-hour-period. So one person could get all five lines, or 5 people could each get 1 line. In the forests, you cannot even get 2 lines in a 27-hour window. Depending on when that window falls, you may not even be able to get one. So, I don't get why you say the forests can "do it better" since, obviously, it's not possible for us to make the New Moon / Full Moon show up 5 times in an IC month.
So there needs to be a pretty massive time limitation in there somewhere, that adds in another few days of slow down. Every time. Winter only adds slowdown if it is winter, so that's really not even a valid point (and I don't know why you'd claim it is).
Simplest solution: Just make it so you can't do the Hand quest more than once in a certain time period (just like you can't do the Ship of the Dead quest more than once per Sea Battle). If it already works this way, then all fine-and-good, but all the information getting posted here so far seems to indicate the only limitation on doing it is winter.
Edit: And as the edit, your numbers further go on to say that it's 27 hours for the first half (getting the 5 lines), and 21 hours for the last 3 quests (I'd guess less if people started working on the Hand early while the quester is doing the two other easier quests). So, yeah. Heh. A slowdown is pretty obviously needed in there.
I'm not asking that it be made harder, but that a check is done to ensure that there is a reasonable limit to how fast the things can be done assuming it is done as fast as humanly possible. With the forests, our check is on the moon phases. With Magnagora / Celest, the check is on the Sea Battles (one per battle). With Gaudiguch / Hallifax, the check is on the ???

Or they could only give out the rewards the first time it's finished for a given person.

You can stop hijacking twits with your discussion on Epic Quests - they're not changing.
In other news, I made brownies from scratch at 4am (who needs sleep? Not I!) and they've turned out to be the thickest, fudgiest most delicious abominations ever.
God I love my cruddy oven.
