Hmm, interesting. I'd have come to Jozan's defense, to try to prevent him from becoming a scapegoat. Also find it interesting that his grandfather, Doman, spoke against him. This looks like a pretty new RP toy, but I'm not sure what it is beyond that.
It is a pretty RP toy, really - though it does have some ramifications beyond just roleplay, and the social ramifications of being thusly punished. It could probably be viewed the harshest of the three 'executioners' so far - though he doesn't actually kill anyone, unlike the other two, the Ritual of Petala can probably have far worse ramifications.
It was essentially felt that anything that warranted death in the ideology of the Light was probably bad enough to warrant being outcitizened - this was a nice middle ground which I think will be a bit more fun overall, once it's settled in completely.

You feel your peer's respect for you rise slightly.
lol, this is going to take awhile, but it does give me something to do.

Heh, somehow I think Kalodan was involved with both of those .
I wonder if we could get Bandrui to do something like this. Usually she just hisses at people and scares them with her weird ways.

I actually like Bandrui...also, does she kill/punish people using that lotus blossom in her hut?

Pretty much a RP vehicle, not that many OOC consequences outside of a one-time XP loss. Also, you know who your friends are in this game. It's good to know that my guild still supports me

But what if it's just one peer who's opinion has changed? Then, peer's is right!

Ah, grammar. You win this round!

Personally I think this trial was set on at a very odd time of day (4am my time). It definitely wasn't a time where many people could attend. I'm sure there would have been a lot more people defending and speaking out against Jozan, if it was set at a time when more people were around. If we do have more such trials in the future, it would be nice if they were set at a time where more people could attend.

Well, what was a bad time of day for you, was obviously a good time of day for them. I doubt they were trying to be sneaky about anything. The game is played 24-7 in all timezones after all.

Oh, I know. It's just a lot of people who know Jozan aren't around at that time. If there were a lot of people who knew Jozan around at that time, then it's not so bad.

I know Fania would've been like, "Jozan griefs me with milk and I'm lactose intolerant...Damn him already." So it would've made little difference if you were there or not. LOL
If you want to air your grievances though, feel free to message me. It'll make you feel better and I'll delete them when I log in. It's win-win for everybody. kthxbai

I think a city post/announce would have been nice, more people would have shown up in Jozan's defense.

That's a good point, Shaddus. You should be served court papers before a trial and given ample time to prepare. It was like okay, come to the amphitheatre, we're going to try you for light treason now. I had to get on a conference call in 15 minutes, so Ilyarin didn't even ask me if I could fit it into my schedule. Basically, the prosecution had gathered all the witnesses that they needed to hate on the defendant and they were ready to proceed.
The defendant has no time to prepare a defense against his accuser. It's like Celina wrote above: it's just a nice little witch hunt with the word justice thrown in it to make it look fair.

I actually didn't have grievances, or you would have known about them long before the trial. Fania doesn't know Jozan well enough either way. She knows he likes to grab people's butts at the pool and talk about his bovine heritage.

Any lawyers in the house? I wanted to ask about character witnesses.
Unknown2009-06-19 20:25:16
Heh, I'm a law student..but this is an international game and designing this based on any country's judicial system would be a pain.
EDIT: All this really needs is some advance notice and planning. I was told of the trial the minute they planned to start it. Can we say "North Korea"?

We could go by English common law and work from there. I mean, the majority of the people live in Britain or her former colonies.
