Were you a mugwump once?
Unknown2009-06-27 11:56:00
Yes, Thoros was a mugwump before, before the speed nerfs to bal and eq recovery.

Come to think of it...I don't think I've ever seen a dwarf player IG. err.gif
Lawl. I remember getting one-shotted by a warrior with arties. ...yeah. Merian = bad choice. Well, I guess if you want to RP as being a full member of Celest? ...but yeah.
Unknown2009-06-27 12:38:23
Well... let's see... Trill would be good, because of the RP reasons, and the Influencing advantages it has...

If you want bashing and pk, go Human, its versatility is good... Plus you can manage to keep at least a shred of your original RP, being that Humans are versatile... Be Trill/Human?
Siam2009-06-27 12:50:20
Arix was a dwarf before.

Shadow Faeling or bust.

Female Kephera does have pretty decent stats for a Celestine. If I had a Cameo and a Gender thingy I would give it a try, I've always been interested to see how it works out. The only thing that would make me hesitate is the very low dex, at 9 points. I'm pretty sure dex is the most important stat in parrying/stancing. But Celina is right, with 13 con and some darn nice resists, you'll be fairly tanky. Your health may not -look- as high as some other people you see, but the resists will make up for it.

Aslaran isn't a bad choice either, but they still suffer from that level 2 fire weakness. But the level 2 balance regain will help with tarot cards like aeon, hangedman, and even healer - which will make you artificially more tanky. The level 1 equilibrium will help in most regards, especially trying to build soulless rubs.

I've also been tempted to try out Dracnari, but I've heard that sip penalties can be pretty harsh.

Lucidian also looks interesting and viable, can be interesting RP, and it has ties to the Trill race which you are currently playing, which might make reincarnating into one have some cool RP.

I was going to say it and found Celina beat me in a far more aggro fashion.

I may have been a little drunk. Or really drunk. I'm amazed I spelled everything correctly AND offered decent advice.

Human blows unless you are 90+. You might get lucky with the stats, but I wouldn't risk 100 credits on human until you are a high enough level to take advantage of their stats. If you are pking at all, resists >>> stats. Female Kephera is just the best caster race in the game, period. I've been a PKing caster 95% of the time I've played, and female Kephera is out-tanked only by illithoid TK mage.

edit: level 1 equilibrium bonus that aslaran and merian have is not noticeable after the speed nerf. Might as well act like it's not there.

Xenthos2009-06-27 14:15:35
Though I would still like to see weaknesses / penalties halved (like every other racial bonus). A bit of a hit to kephera / viscanti, a buff to merian / mugwump. Kephera/Merian/Mugwump can definitely use it.
Lawliet2009-06-27 14:20:16
As you can see from the scattered advice and insults at my race (sad.gif), we can't really advise you unless you tell us what you're going for, Hunting, PK, or influence?

Edit: Go merian, dammit! We need more of us!

Kephera is good at all three!
Unknown2009-06-27 14:21:29
I'm not sure about nerfing resists. It seems like weaknesses are universally used to "balance" speed bonuses, but Viscanti for example have a sip penalty instead of weaknesses to balance their resists.

I think it makes sense to halve weaknesses since speed buffs were halved, but I'm not sure about resists.

Also, I think some races like Merian and Mugwump could use a Con boost. I think Krellan made a post a while ago about why...maybe I can find that instead of rewriting it myself.

Furien2009-06-27 14:21:59
Throwing in my own advice again- yes, the DEX is -definitely- a penalty for PKers. To compensate for it, even as an ascendant, I have to walk around at size 1 to reach 13 or 14 dex. Even then, Treant's stance/parrying is kinda eh so I have to mostly manual those. Being size 1 makes me lose out on a good 600 or so health.

It sure made Stagform an awesome skill for once, though!

Found it!

If I were to blame anything at all, i'd blame titan/demigod stat buffs along with racial stats. Warriors are helped the most by an increase in all stats, followed by monks (in general). Why? because they actually utilize these stats a lot, these being constitution, strength, intelligence (for warriors), dexerity (for monks). Actually, bards are even helped just as much as monks now with the latest charisma to damage change. They benefit from intelligence, charisma, and constitution. Druids, mages, wiccans, and guardians for the most part will benefit from constution alone. You may argue that they benefit from intelligence, but it really means so little, when wiccans and guardians will be afflicting and druids and mages will be focused on demesne work as well as afflicting/staying alive.

I'm still wondering why anyone even cares about retarded things like "stats" or "resists".

Because not everyone plays for just RP-- they have fun engaging in combat. I joke all the time about the skills, race, and choices I've made with Everiine, because if I was going for high end combat I would never make it. But that's not what I play the game for, and it's not what you play the game for, so those things don't matter as much to us.

But for many people, they play the game to have fun in combat. Stats, advantages and disadvantages are part of the strategy of combat, and you have to take them into account if that is what you are going for. If you wanted to be a top notch race car driver, you wouldn't try to race with a Yugo, no matter how much you loved the car. Think of combat as a sport, and stats, advantages, and disadvantages as the equipment you need to play the sport well.

EDIT: On the same token, there are plenty of people who wonder why we care about "retarded" things like RP. All of us are free to play the game for whatever reasons we wish.
Dynami2009-06-27 16:05:56
Well, here are my thoughts so far: I DON'T want to go Kephera(RP reasons), I have played as a Lucidian before and I enjoyed, so that is an option, and I think Lobo will be kind of icky(RP reasons). Also, to answer Lawliet's question, I am looking for a Hunting/PK setup(leaning towards hunting), but I don't want my charisma to look like a pile of doo doo.

P.S My avatar is the "baby" version of the wolf in Okami

Hehe, so cute... erm, anyways, how bad is the dracnari sip malus? I get 4s recovery with none as a human. What do they get?

4 seconds. Sip malus reduces the value of the sip.
