I just refuse to do a guild rite for the sake of a guild rite,
Amen!

I always thought Aison did a good job with her GRs

It'll be nice to have something meaningful while you play the game, rather than just going to hunt, harvest, kill, defend, raid, rinse and repeat.

When I was the Archmage of the Geomancers, which was quite some time back, I noticed that the Geomancers were mostly loners and couldn't be bothered to gather and chit chat. I used the guild rite to drag people together and actually sit down and small talk. It was quite enjoyable, and the novices got bumped a few levels and being around more senior members and all sometimes interesting discussions would erupt.
While it could be seen by some as just 'waving the artifact in the air' or 'doing it for its own sake' I think that the only way you'll know is to ask the GM at the time. Sometimes, it is necessary to give bonus exp and karma to people and even for high level people like me, I appreciate the small gain and while I have to sometimes wait around for AGES for everyone to get together just to GUILD RITE, the conversations that come along while waiting made it all worthwhile.
