Unvote: Furien

That's a bold day one claim. If we have another cop, he'll die tomorrow if he's lying.
Xavius2009-07-28 03:07:30
Oh, and in case it wasn't entirely clear, an investigate on Furien would be great, and if all you roleblocky-jaily types could steer clear, that'd be awesomesauce.

So what you're saying is that if one of us is an investigator, we should come out and claim it when we investigate Furien? I know if I were one, I wouldn't.
Furien2009-07-28 03:26:41
If something does happen to me overnight that isn't the doctor failing miserably, my death should reveal a likely scum suspect.

If I don't die, then I've found a townie, and you'll all know who it is.

This statement bugs me for some reason, can you explain it?

One of my powers, in addition to investigating, is sending out a pamphlet at the end of every night for everyone to read. In this pamphlet I can tell you all who I am, what I'm doing, why I'm doing it, and more importantly, who I targetted that night.

If I target someone who is scum, I will die. So if I targetted Aerotan and for some reason I die overnight, chances are something is wrong with Aerotan. This is assuming the doctor doesn't fail to protect me, that way I won't be nightkilled and end up getting Aerotan lynched on accident.
Furien2009-07-28 03:33:16
To clarify- you'll see the pamphlet in the morning.
Xavius2009-07-28 03:35:12
So, if you target scum, is your ability only useful to us if you pre-declare your target?

The declaration is given during the night, and you'll (and anyone else but me) will see it in the morning. Followed by my corpse if things don't go well.

I think it might be safer to let Furien live for the moment.
Dugan2009-07-28 03:51:05
I fail to see why Furien decided to give out all of this info. He was not close to a lynch, granted he had a good couple of votes, but no where near what was needed to get lynched off. Why give out information if there isn't a need?
Arix2009-07-28 03:57:10
Sorry guys, was out and about all day. Had to run errands, promised I'd go with my aunt and cousins to go see the new Harry Potter movie, then we went out to eat. I just got back and am going to relax a bit before I catch up with the latest mafia goings on
Arix2009-07-28 03:58:18
Also, I saw one of the posts just now, didn't Ilyarin do a no night action thing?

This is a tendency I've never really understood. In this particular instance, the fine details of his claim are probably equally beneficial to scum as town. On one hand, we've probably avoided a townie lynch (and, mathematically speaking, we'll probably go on to lynch a different townie today anyways). He's giving us information necessary to validate his roleclaim as well. Waiting a day, or even two if Furien totally misread his role and he needs to actually be investigated, isn't harmful to us nearly as much as the loss of an investigator would be.

I'm also willing to bet pretty good money that the mod wasn't really thinking game balance when coming up with roles, and the town is going to brutally paint the walls in scum blood. Self-confirming roles are awesome.

Only my second game, but claiming cop that early seems ballsy to me. Still, wondering the same thing as Dugan... he wasn't anywhere close to 12 votes. I mean, the discussion still seemed pretty open-ended when he claimed.

Unvote.
Xavius2009-07-28 04:02:50
I totally failed to finish my line of thought there. Oh man. Bed soon, it looks like!

Anyways, to continue:

Granted, Furien releasing this much detail on his role does provide the scum with opportunity to jerrymander results, so it might not have been the wisest decision, but why does it matter if he says it now or after we go through our elaborate ritual of playing chicken with vote numbers? He saw serious, substantiated claims levelled at him, and so he just said what he felt was necessary to exonerate himself. Whatever. It's way too bold of a claim to be made up, especially since if it's a lie, the lie is going to be publicly broadcast and his arse is gettin' lynched no later than day three as a consequence.
Furien2009-07-28 04:02:55
What can I say? I saw a train building up on me and wanted to head it off is all.
Arix2009-07-28 04:27:47
I'm going to be honest here, I have absolutely no idea what's going on. You guys jumped way ahead of me. For now, I am going to UNVOTE, and then I am going to go to bed and try reading the recent stuff when I'm actually awake

My wife is making go off, so I'm making this vote after the post where furien does the First , second, ... fithly thing. This sound belieable but I'll read the next page in the morning. I just don't want a ninja lynch.
Daganev2009-07-28 05:53:25
Ok, that all makes sense.
A bit confused as to why you are telling us your power, and not your role, but that's ok.
You also claimed a bit to early, so we couldn't get a feel from the lurkers and give them a chance to voice their opinions.

I'm going to vote rika to go back to Zynna's original assessment.
