Well, we'd still need an admnistration, so the real question is if the admin would tolerate getting demoted from gods to heroes/peasants/whatever.
Sorry, the gods are here to stay!

Wiccans should start having to use tainted fae.

I still think the 125K power loss, should have been a 95K power loss.
You still get the shock and awe, and it's a lot, but since it's below the 100K mark, it doesn't feel so depressing.

If you think Lusternia is on the "wrong track", might I suggest you volunteer at the next ephemeral call...
If there was a way to do that without giving up the reason I'd want it done (i.e., my chance to be involved in it), I would have done so the first time you asked after open beta started. But like any good monkey's paw, you will only give me what I want at the price of giving up my reason to want it! The odds of having a fun Lusternia to play are still better as a player who logs in less and less often than as an ephemeral who isn't allowed to log in as a player at all.
(Though even as an ephemeral, how long would one have to serve in the Haven's dungeons before one could express an opinion like "preventing an anti-griefing counterquest by idling AFK in a manse 24 hours a day should be a crime, not a protected activity", with some chance of making a change? Even as an ephemeral, I doubt I could do anything.)

I've just browsed through this thread (unlike Eventru, I do sleep), and there's certainly some interesting tangents!
Regarding newbies, while I do not think they necessarily should be coddled (they should understand that they best not go to hostile places!), if anyone is harassing, abusing or discouraging newbies (like preying on them in collegiums or regularly killing collegium teachers, etc.), please let me know and I'll deal with it immediately.

Yeah, it is a big sacrifice to become an admin as you cannot be a player as well. It is a longstanding policy throughout all the IRE games. There is just too much temptation for most mere mortals not to take advantage (even a small advantage like, oh, what's the harm in peeking in the inventories of your enemies--or justifying it through admin responsibilities). Even if you are able to construct psychic walls between roles, invariably information gets leaked out and then charges of bias will be made just because the possibility of bias exists or appears to exist.

Well, I was referring to the large amounts of power returned by purifying the fae. So far, each commune has recouped over 40k power and it's still going up. The initial 125k power drain was meant to be met with shock and awe (which seems to have worked!), insofar as it was the culmination of the trickery of the Demon Lords. Throughout the arc of the entire event, the communes are currently net power.
Apologies if you don't like the event! However, there's no choice but to let it play out. If you think Lusternia is on the "wrong track", might I suggest you volunteer at the next ephemeral call, or encourage others who you think would do a good job to volunteer, to help design and run events the way you think they should be done? It's harder than you think and we can always use good people!

Just a pondering, does restoring the tainted fae drain the power from Magnagora? If not, then Magnagora makes a killing every single time this quest line (or something similar) is done while everybody else scrambles to recoup their losses. Even if this is but a one time event, Magnagora -still- comes out miles and miles and miles ahead of everybody else. The wording of your comment makes me think that the 125k is supposed to shock and awe but in reality be not quite that bad, but if Mag gets to keep all 125k of it..... Meep.

Having such a clear seperation between administrators and players is not a foolproof shield against corruption, nor is it without its drawbacks. Sure it's difficult (if not impossible) for a God to have a mortal character that benefits in any way from their Godhood, but they can certainly benefit other mortal characters. They can do it ICly or OOCly (no one is immune to AIM, I have found), and they can do it within the rules of the game or without. A certain individual was sacked a long time ago for going too far out of his way to benefit his mortal buddies, but that was an extreme example and even he might've gotten away with it if circumstances were different. Furthermore, the seperation is a surefire way to alienate the playerbase and the immortal staff from one another. I've never before played a MUD where the Gods were as revered OOCly as they are in-game, by certain groups of people anyway, or where there is such a social gap between the two spheres. The longer someone is a God, and the higher up they are on the totem pole, the more insulated they become from the "real" game that we're all pottering about in down here, and the harder it is for players to approach them, or be comfortable approaching them.
Rabblerabblerabblerabble.
P.S. I'm all for summoning tainted fae, so long as they immediately wig out and attack the nearest wiccan and begin tainting every room they come into contact with, a la the tainted fae event (my all-time favorite).

This particular quest line will not be repeatable. Remember this came from the DL's deception and sneaky plans (NOT the xion inititive). It isn't something that would be successful if done repeatedly.

So Raziela got tied up, that doesn't change her fundamental nature or transform her into a completely foreign being.

I added up 33k, as of now. This power is also not exactly being recovered, as it's not being taken back from Magnagora - it's just generating out of nowhere. Dumping huge amounts of any resource into a game has mixed results. I think we'd also feel better about it if we were being given the opportunity to take back what is rightfully ours.
What I dislike about this event in general is the amount of direct involvement by the administrator running it.
The quest mobs needed to counteract the Xion Initiative have now been removed from Faethorn to an undisclosed location or changed into tainted mobs. You have disabled the communes' counter quest, telling us that it is not pertinent to the current event. The cities may have faced stout odds previously, but at least the opportunity for them to undo the hai'Gloh was there. Not so for us.
An invincible supermob has been created in Maeve's throne room. At intervals, this mob is inhabited by an admin and moved directly to players to kill them, even in Ethereal Serenwilde. People do not really enjoy this. Please create a set of rules for this mob and stick to them. Will it hunt down anyone in faethorn all the time? Will it spawn inside the communes at any time? Will it only attack those who are enemied to Nil? Only those who are members of the communes? I get that the character Maeve is erratic, but there are better ways of showing this.
There, I try to be constructive!

Raziela had a bracelet that made her wrist cut as if she was emo, this is 'Kill the Queen of the fae and work with a tainted Faethorn while simultaneously dealing with three avatars dying, also having to kill tainted fae'.
From an OOC perspective, killing Maeve is -great- and I'd transfer that in-game but that's not something a Moondancer can easily flaunt. The loss of thousands of fae to the Taint is a bit much, though.
Have you even looked at Maeve? That woman's been through a lot. :S
Granted I guess the accompanying raids from Glomdoring (plus some Seren) during Hai'Gloh was more than enough since you couldn't even summon guards (retarded idea).

Maybe we should have a quest where Somaria uses a coathanger on Selene (whichever it is) and makes her not pregant. She'd still be the Mother, right?
